'GESKIYA' means truth in Hausa language;
'De GESKIYA'? Is it the truth?
Who ever spend little time in the North- especially their markets, you will have come across this word.
For most people it is a way of knowing the true price of a commodity; Hausa people are known to place a triple the amount of price on a product. This will confuse you on how to bit the price down, but once you say 'De GESKIYA'?; the owner may most likely tell you the true price of it.
The GESKIYA of a word is most likely coined from the Muslim holy Book- the Qoran. It stipulates a stern punishment for liars. The North with predominately adherents of the Book may coin their ways of lives from it.
The Influence of GESKIYA in politics in the North can not be over emphasized .
Most politicians usually ask the populace to give them their Amana- meaning trust during their electioneering campaigns.
If you go by the popular votes in the North , it usually move the way of MAI-GESKIYA - meaning the one that has the truth.
Going by Buhari's antecedents; this is what make him so popular in the North.
The Influence of GESKIYA is what will make the North to continue to vote for credible candidates whom they trust and will deliver as long as votes counts.
With the pillar of GESKIYA firmly rooted in the North, I am proud to be from Arewa.

Actually, Hausas are honest and trustworthy people.
If they weren't of religion of peace, they could have been the best people there is.
However, Usman Dan Fodio used their people to conquer them because of being extremely corrupt. Being corrupt made them perfect slaves to Fulani marauders.

Boko haram is alien to the North. We in the North are up till now still bewildered as to what it means. When the GESKIYA regime is sworn in then we may begin to understand the true meaning of it. But as at now, we still see it as a political tools in the hands of enemies of the North.

So have you been to other places? What parameters did you use to reach your conclusion? Don't get me wrong, I love Northerners, Yorubas, Efiks etc, but when it comes to honesty, I get say which is. It is individual thing. That is ma point!
