Our dear nation has basically been on its knees since forever, even with now more than 150 homo sapiens skulls, many of whom are educated.
That's because we just keep making poor decisions and never stop to question ourselves as a people and as a nation. We do not question the things we do at the lowest level on day to day basis.
We do not question our tiny weekly little actions and modus operandi to ascertain their overall impact and efficiency.
There are many examples to this but i will just pick one of them to illustrate this salient point.
Do Christians succeed more than non Christians on earth? Do religious nations succeed more than nonreligious nations on earth?
Just look around, if your answer is no, then there are obviously things that has to be changed.
For instance, if the Catholic Church in this country can replace its base language Latin, with a more useful contemporary language like French, Spanish, Dutch etc, in a about a decade we will have an entire population of youths who can speak French and know a lot about France to travel there for studies and work.
Be objective like me, the Latin is a total waste of time. Its the language of the fallen Roma. empire and no country uses it anymore.
So, beyond the fact that people reciting prayers in Latin in our local churches do not understand a dime what they are saying, we are also loosing valuable man hours on weekly bases. Even Rome itself was not built in a day or on a language they do not understand.
On the other hand, Protestant Churches spend a whole lot of time weekly praying in languages they do not understand too. Since we both agreed earlier on in this write up that Christian cannot be said to succeed more than atheists in a given society, amd speaking in tongues is not a criteria for entering heaven, something is wrong somewhere too. French, Mandarin or Spanish will be more useful to us as a nation too. Speaking in tongues or speaking in Latin, does not help the nation in anyway, its just for the use of the speaker. Can we move forward doing only things that gratify us?
The funny part is that each of these two sides look down on each other for adopting those unproductive languages.
There are many other examples both political, religious and otherwise where we loose valuable man hours as Nigerians, but i'll leave them to you.
If we as a nation adopt some useful changes and modifications in our modus operandi we can finally rise from our knees and watch the status quo improve by itself.
Even Rome, a once great civilization, in its prime realised something they eventually found a way to cut down into words "laborare et orare"
Which means, "to work is to pray".
So who are we then copying? What do we think we are doing? Can we get a different result while doing the same thing forever?
