DMF are MADE to read such positions and react accordingly and correctly. Look, this is even just one such play. We are talking about goals conceded, you are talking about aerial duels (which include benign duels in the midfield and other areas away from the goal). If you can just show me a match where Pique was beaten to a header resulting in a goal, then you have something to talk about. For Busquets, I already have 2 just this season.

Why shouldn't we talk about aerial duels won?
Is it only lost aerial battles that led to goals that is used to determine the aerial capabilities of a player? That is voodoo analysis!
An aerial ball lost is an aerial ball lost, whether it leads to a goal or not!
Piqué has scored numerous own goals through aerial balls, why aren't you saying he is also aerially deficient?

If you don't know what Busquets did wrong there, I will simply beg you to end this discussion. It simply means you don't even know what positional play is all about.

Oga it was not Busquets fault, Mascherano was supposed to be tracking him! Didn't you even see Busquets raising his hands towards Mash position? when he saw that Mash stopped tracking him, busquets now reacted!

These are just 3 instances of many more of Busquets showing poor positioning aerially (by being in front of his marker relative to the ball). And you say he's king of positional play.

Tracking back ko, tracking forward ni. As a defender, your first instinct when the ball passes you is to follow the direction of the ball. Mascherano was following the ball only to find Muller was covered. He turned around only to find the DMF who saw the whole thing play out had misread the situation. These things play out within sub-seconds, and players are reactive as well. He will not be checking the pages of football terms for "tracking back" as you think. That's not how football is played. Sorry.

As far as I am concerned, there is absolutely nothing wrong in what he did. Plus, that's his style of play. They had better get used to it because he ain't going anywhere soon.

LMAO. Guy, I can mention 5 to 10 games Busquets caused a goal from an aerial ball he didn't deal with. Another one - Barcelona vs AC Milan (ended 2-2); Champions League 2010/2011. Goal scored by Thiago Silva in the last minute of the game. I will always say it; Busquets is in that team simply because he's a Catalan and no more. There are quite a number of holding midfielders much better than he is.

Please check our games without Busi in the mid field and compare to when we have him there.

And pls, don't forget to suggest a supposed better replacement for him.
