Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo formally took over the leadership of the Villa Chapel on Sunday. The chapel was built by the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.


The chapel had always been controlled by a president or vice-president of Christian faith as the political head, while the president’s or vice-president’s chaplain is the spiritual head. Former President Goodluck Jonathan would have handed over the chapel to Osinbajo penultimate Sunday when he attended service in the worship centre for the last time but for the vice-president’s absence.


Osinbajo attended service in the chapel for the first time yesterday accompanied by his wife, Dolapo; Bishop Wale Oke of the Sword of the Spirit Ministries; Senior Pastor, Living Waters Unlimited Church, Pastor Ladi Thompson and other clergymen. The vice-president, who himself is a pastor, delivered a goodwill message to the congregation and did the benediction. He later proceeded to the children church where he prayed and took photographs with the children, along with members of his entourage.

If any group or set of individuals can ever be blamed for the international ridicule and debasement of the office of the presidency and by and large our Nationhood status it has to be treasonable elements within the APC like El Rufai who shamelessly went to the house of commons to spew blatant lies and conspiracy theories on this current administration regarding Boko Haram. Of course the British House of Commons are not daft like El Ruffai's twitter followers and facebook fans to believe his lies. Also, we should recall how northern governors under the aegis of the Northern Governors' Forum took themselves to the US to slander this administration as if Nigeria is a protectorate or colony of the US with Obama as our Emperor. But by far the most damaging campaign to our countries image and ridiculing of the office of the presidency had to be the Chibok twitter campaign which chose to ridicule the govt over any genuine concern for the "missing girls".
