I assume the manufacturer will know what's best. For my car, 10w30 is recommended for warm climates but 5w20 or 5w30 is recommended for all climates

I got to the total service station here in Ilorin, to my amazement the attendants and supervisor said total doesn't manufacture 5W30. the same was said by Mobil service station too....Please who knows where one can get 5W30 engine oil here in nigeria and the likely price.

I have repeatedly said on this forum that these oils are not meant for our climate, where in Nigeria do you have temperatures ranging from 5-30 degress except during harmattan period.

These cars are not tropicalized, they are meant for cooler climate, this is the equator the sun shines hotter here, you wont find it easy getting these oils here except 20w50 or sae 40, I wont ask you to use it , search harder you maight get it the 5w30.

But look well, dont just buy an oil because they wrote 5w30 on the can, some unscrupulous dealers buy containers and print misleading labels like 5w30, 10w30, 0w20 on them and fill these cans with base oil imagine. ur mechanic should be able to advise you on the net best alternative.

I use a 95 jetta, the rated oil is 5w40, but av been using az 20w50 for the past 3 yrs and the engine is still sound and running well.

Always prove all things dont buy into the hype sold by some people here.

Gudu market in Abuja. My car uses 5w 20 and 0w 20. I get my Toyota OEM Engine oil from that market. You can get Mobil 1 5w 30 from there as well. So if you have a contact in Abuja, ask him/her to go to Gudu market.

Mobil 1 5W30 is 2000 naira for 0.965 litre bottle.

I see, are u sure its the oil thats inside the container, hmm check well o, dont go and buy sae 40 and put in your car.

Theres a difference between recommended and required , the said oils 5w30 etc were recommended for vehicles in their countries of origin, note the weather in these countries are cold and winterlike, they have brief periods of heat called summer and spring, you cant compare with out hot climate here, I tell you from personal experience , the oils may be good for cars less than made later than 2005 but not before 2002.
Shine your eyes o, alot of people are pedaling fake oils laden with synthetic labels to decieve people, buy from genuine dealers of these products.
