A Law should neither be too harsh or too soft.

If its too harsh, it leaves it open to abuse. Most offenders will be ready to pay big either to the law enforcement agents or seek out of court with their victims. Even their victims may have mercy on them!

The life sentence is simply too harsh.

It should have been like a minimum of 10years. If its gang rape, life isn't a bad thing though. Gang rape has even less to do with sexual pleasure but sheer sadistic pleasure of dominating another person.

What really deters criminals is not the severity of the Law. Rather is their being apprehended and then punished. (Eccl 8:11). If you like, prescribe death by a billion cuts, as long as no one is ever sentenced, the atmosphere will remain rotten.

After spending 4 years in the senate,the best they can come up with is a bill on rape? Some times I wonder the IQ level of these senators......billions have been spent on their salaries and allowances and this is the only thing they can think of?? Don't give us a holier than thou attitude. It is either you are an hypocrite or you don't understand how the male body chemistry works. NO JUSTIFIABLE reason for rapists. But raping is an effect, we should tackle the causes. Some christian brethren once visited a psychiatric hospital to pray for the patients. When they got to one of the male patients, he almost grabbed one of the sisters that went for the visitation save the intervention of the other brethren who held the insane man. The sister was dressed in a short skirt and would you believe the insane man began to ejaculate? As much as we condemn rape, we must also condemn indecent exposure to balance the equation.
