Any attempt to investigate the army for killing boko haram fighters and supporters will result in a full scale demoralisation of the army. I hope 2013, will not repeat itself. You need your army more than ever before. Nobody will risk their lives, just to end up in a court martial.
Ihejirika must be probed, trialed and sent to jail by the ICJ. It was under his command that the Nigerian army summarily executed hundreds of innocent people in the North East. The Civilian JTF were the killing boko haram while the Nigerian Army under the command of Ihejirika were extra-judicially killing innocent people.

Ihejirika must be jailed

It is the least he could do honestly. We all understand in war, there must be collateral damages but such damages must not be DELIBERATE.

I'm all for killing those terrorists even without trial but totally against our soldiers rounding up and wiping out entire villagers in the name of fighting terrorists. I watched one of the videos on how the civilian JTF distinguish Boko Haram fighters from civilians and almost came close to tears with the realisation even myself could be tagged a terrorist going by their methods- you are stripped and beaten until you confess, and if you don't, they say you are strong headed because you are a terrorist!! Can you imagine the horror! It implies that whether or not you confess, you are dead!

What some of our men in uniform exhibit at the battle front they do in lesser measure in our cities when they go to banks or filling stations, or man check points. They harass and molest civilians and even police sometimes.

I bet the probe would only go to fish out the bad eggs amongst them and let those who know just how to do the job continue to do so for the glory and honour of this great nation.

So help us God.
I pray you get to the war front in your dream then when you wake up you will be able to tell what soilders are train to do

Is it not this illiterate that said an attack on boko haram was genocide against the north? How convenient for the fvck ed up Amnesty international to present this useless report to him.

I don't know how true the allegations are. But as you agree , bh fighters should be killed even without trial.
But we have to be very mindful of the allegations of AI. I really don't know their motived. OBJ wasn't charged with wsr crimes when he razed down Odi village. George Bush wasn't charged when he invaded Iraq and killed innocent children.

I dont like people with double standards, but all the same, we should try any soldier we find guilty and deal with them in accordance to our own law.
Yes. According to our laws. And just as you said, it has always been my opinion that folks like George Bush Jnr and Tony blair should be standing trial for war crimes. Anything short of that is sheer hypocrisy.

Good thing to do! But he shouldn't forget that when he was head of state under a military dispensation, he did not respect and uphold human rights to some extent, I can't blame the past service chief for what they have done because when it comes to fighting terrorism mistakes and collateral damages are inevitable and the general knows that.

This amnesty guys are oblivious of ethnicity issues in Nigeria... Buhari shud knw better, and throw out their garbage of a report into the dust bin of irrelevant reports, reposition the military to do it's job professionally henceforth if he doesnt want Nigerians to misinterpret his administration philosophy...

"I acknowledge receipt of your report and I will make sure these allegations are investigated"

..Now this is exactly how to handle situations in a presidential way; this is the presidential way to shut meddling outsiders up. If this were to be Jonathan, his first public reaction would be a deafening silence and when pressured to speak, his first reaction would be to claim the allegation is false even before investigations. He would also go further to pin the allegation on his political opponents who want to unsettle his government.

It shocks me that many many many people still do not see what was wrong with Jonathan's style of leadership.
Re: President Buhari To Probe Amnesty International Report On Torture by ayindejimmy(m): 1:42pm On Jun 04, 2015
This is a very good move.

The very important question, devoid of prejudice and sentiments, we should ask ourselves is that:
Which institution has a better record of honesty and integrity, Amnesty International or the Nigerian Army?

What will A. I gain by lying?
We must not let the fact that we are at war with BH decloud our logical reasoning or allow some of our soldiers become BH in their behavior. We all know our soldiers and how they behave in the streets towards the 'common civilians.'
Now picture a war scenario and how you think they'll behave.
I think these allegations are worth looking into at least to preserve the little sanity we have left in our army.

It's simply a judicial audit the confirm the officers innocence or they remain suspects for life.

I think they should welcome it. Only the guilty are afraid.
Re: President Buhari To Probe Amnesty International Report On Torture by Maghan37: 1:51pm On Jun 04, 2015
Well I am not surprised by d amnesty report & belief every word it states because a military dat wasd asking its members 2 pay 4 uniforms & bullets, a military that was ill equiping its members and sending its members with weapons like a 1976 maulter. Hence it could be said dat d military does not value its members life not 2 even talk of civilians and also past precedence supports amnesty.

Well, the soldiers should be probed for their violation of human rights alone. Not for violation of the rights of Boko haram because they are not human. From my perspective, whoever is ready to blow up self and kill many is not human and should be shot at sight.

I know the Nigerian men in uniform commit a lot of impunities (especially the police) so I hope Buhari only investigates them based on the wrongs done to individuals.

But really, I find it alarming that Obj wiped out villages using the Nigerian army and was never questioned. Does this mean that there's more to this "Amnesty accusations" or not? Something is fishy here. I only hope Buhari threads carefully, does things right and not damn the moral of the Nigerian Army just to please the western world who cares less about our existence.

Is their any other way PMB tends to eradicate BH from Nigeria apart from Killing them? if not, why is he even paying attention to the allegation leveled against the service chiefs who are doing their duty? the visit to Niger was on mission to end BH.. which I believe it will be by fighting them... Unless u are considering granting the amnesty, and by doing so u re fueling the country to disaster... quote me n die

From the comments I read here some people are afraid of an internal audit on professional and well trained officers who have set exams and passed exams on rules of engagement in conflict situations. Please allow the audit to happen, only the guilty are afraid.

Either Yar'Adua or Jonathan should have investigated that . Remember Jonathan was Yar'Adua 's VP . Why did they not investigate?
When PMB says, he belongs to all and yet no one owns him , you can see what he was talking about. Perhaps Yar'Adua and Jonathan were owned by somebody so they couldn't do their job.
