Was a notice of evacuation given the sellers there?
Is there an alternative arrangement for the people you're taking away their source of income.
Is this part of your promises to them when you begged for their votes?

I think this guy's over zealousness will be his downfall.
I pray he succeeds though.

This should not be a news, I expect the 10 lane project to affect this portion opposite LASU gate.

Re: Ambode Demolishes Ijangbara Market by oduastates: 6:13pm On Jun 05, 2015
Nigeria, nigerians and jagbanjantis everywhere.. Most especially those stalls made out of wood, used tyres, pure water, firewood, charcoal all over.
The lagos I was born did not looked like this.
The government need to go back to the old western region system of 3 days a week high Street market days( ojo oja).
Look for good locations and road that can be shut down between 7a.m to 7 pm to Allow trading.
Something similar to what you have in England.

don't mind the Op.
Ambode didn't demolish the market. There is a massive demolishion of structures from barracks to Iyana- Iba due to the construction and expansion of the new badagry expressway. The demolishion has been going on for weeks now.

This is not ijangbara market, it is rather iyanaiba market don't really know if the op is a mischief maker. That said, it is the portion of the market affected by the road construction

for those asking if there was notice, there has been notice for over 5years now you may also leave ambode out of this, it's entirely a fashola thing

there are actually two markets on that axis. The Iyana-Iba market which is the major market and Ijangbara market which is a smaller one. Only food items are sold are Ijangbara market while Iyana Iba market is a full market.

There is no obligation to provide alternatives for illegal activities .Doing so will only encourage such behaviour in the future. There is a need to collaborate with the FG to make it attractive to stay in rural areas.
On the human side people should have been given reasonable notice and time to evacuate but we cannot escape the age long debate that Lagos is too small to accommodate or provide employment for all jobless Nigerians. A situation where 10% of Nigeria troops to Lagos to ride okada and other low level work is destructive to Lagos. This is a common problem in poor countries: major cities host large urban slums that are impossible to manage.Lagos must actively discourage further drift of slum dwellers into the city by demolishing and evacuating illegal structures and enforcing rules on overcrowding. This must be done within the law
