Handing over after loosing an election is a normal thing that should happen but the case is very different in Africa especially when the ruling party losses to opposition. Whether GEJ didn't have the courage, will or machinery to thwart the election/ handover is the unanswered question. I beleive he deserves to be nominated because it can only be left to the imagination the crisis that would have erupted had he not conceeded. He thwarted doomsday predictions on Nigeria for 2015.

Like you pointed out conceding defeat is a rare act in Africa, so why disregard the act or his action, act like this should be promoted to encourage up coming leaders, the root cause of electoral violence in Nigeria stemmed from the fact that Buhari refused to accept defeat in the polls in all the elections contested before winning the 2015 election, Boko haram was empowered by those who would not accept defeat , if you analyse the Nigeria election and political climate from Ya'ardua to Gej you would understand the reason why GEJ conceding defeat is a big deal.

In other words GEJ could have done all that but chose not to.

Imagine how difficult it was for Buhari to concede defeat in his relatively less powerful position and the carnage it caused. Now picture if he was in power. That is the typical African leader for you and that is why GEJ stands out.

i have always thought so too... GEJ just had this air of "abeg i don tire sef" around him for d last months of his tenure. Even durin d campaign he was not as boisterous as he should be, there was no energy and enthusiasm in him. He gave off dis aura of... 'Abeg anyhow jare'. Rather madam Patience and co, seemed like the contestants, uncle GEJs election/conceding defeat story to me is like wen d whole family wants u to marry d prince and u reluctantly agree.. And wen d prince suddenly calls of d weddin, u are indifferent.. But d whole family is devastated.
