Hello everyone, its good to know that this thread is still growing. All thanks to spyder and everyone that has been instrumental to its success. As for the thread being moved to the travel section, as much as the thread is better off in the politics section due to the traffic there, it equally falls within the jurisdiction of the travel section. But I will see what I can do to get it back to the politics section but I'm promising anything. If you noticed, I've not been active on Nairaland like I used to be for the past one year. So, I'm lost as to why this thread was moved here. Anyways, ka'm juo ajuju and get back to you guys. Ndewo nu. |

Afam4eva:Thanks Afam. Why we all surprised is why they always single out this thread, repeatedly. While similar thread are left in politics section, just watch out, they will still move it out of politics again in no distant time. Personally, I don't care where it's placed as long as 'am allowed to post without hiding my post, and similar threads moved as well, that's justice, that's being fair. |

mikolo80:Few points about malaysia Agriculture is now a minor sector of the Malaysian economy, accounting for 7.1% of Malaysia's GDP in 2014 and employing 11.1% of Malaysia's labour force, contrasting with the 1960s when agriculture accounted for 37% of Malaysia's GDP and employed 66.2% of the labour force. The crops grown by the agricultural sector has also significantly shifted from food crops like paddy and coconut to industrial crops like palm oil and rubber, which in 2005 contributed to 83.7% of total agricultural land use, compared to 68.5% in 1960.[71 In the 1970s, the predominantly mining and agricultural-based economy began a transition towards a more multi-sector economy. Since the 1980s, the industrial sector, with a high level of investment, has led the country's growth The population in concentrated on Peninsular Malaysia[198] where 20 million of approximately 28 million Malaysians live.[3] 70 per cent of the population is urban source wiki. |

Unemadu:Of course manufacturing is the final final but whatchu go'n manufacture, breeze? In usa agric is 1% gdp and 1%employment but supports a further 16% others(services and manufacturing) once that one percent goes so does the 16% first things first why hasn't India leap frogged as they have been touting. If you like allow oyinbo deceive you control your food chain |

mikolo80:The most agrarian and rural states are actually the poorest even in Nigeria. Thats what u should ponder on. Ultimately you need less people in agriculture and more in other sectors to really develop. |
| Re: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by InyinyaAgbaOku(m): 7:14am On Jun 09, 2015 |
Unemadu:That's because we do not practice advanced agriculture. We simply sell raw materials. You don't grow rich selling palm nuts but you can be richer selling palm oil in addition. Same goes for crude oil and petroleum/kerosene. So, if we begin to process our agricultural proceeds ( eg cocoa to chocolate, corn to corn flour, paddy to processed rice, all for export), the economy will be richer. Think of the service industries they will attract and the multiplier effects. Enugu rural areas should embark on mechanized agriculture . That's even the most ready developmental strategy or do you have any contrary opinions as to how we should utilize the vast lands and available work force? . |
| Re: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by InyinyaAgbaOku(m): 7:18am On Jun 09, 2015 |
mikolo80:You are right. Manufacturing is also a component of agriculture. We can even buy some agricultural, raw materials we don't grow much in the east and turn them into finished products and sell to other Nigerians and beyond. That's what advanced countries do to us in the first place. . |
| Re: Enugu, The Pride Of The East. by mikolo80: 9:54am On Jun 09, 2015 |
Unemadu:all rural areas are poorer than urban poverty relative. tractors and improved seedlings will earn more. no manufacturing without primary production which is foundation (my point) |

InyinyaAgbaOku:Exactly fmr gov did the right thing with the san carlos business model even though im not happy it's just for export, but its a good start. Others should be motivated to start similar projects. Nsukka and ninth mile can easily be huge processing zones and thats why im happy the new gov is focusing on them |

Unemadu:You have to start somewhere....Look at Anambra for example investing big in agriculture which will trigger economic boom and along the line they might decide to divert their economy to something else. Stop making silly excuses why Chime neglected agriculture. ENUGU state has no other means to grow their economy other than through agriculture. Beautiful state is all you and your folks dream of but you don't wanna hatch the idea of how such will come by. |

OdenigboAroli:Enugu economy should be like this 1- Services and logistics- 40%. 2- Agriculture - 20%. 3- Tourism - 10%. 4- Industrialization - 10%. 5- Real Estate - 10%. 6- Informal sector and others 10%. .......I can explain them |

BuddahMonk:This sounds more like it. I think we should take a cue from the MAURITIUS model. They started as an agro based country and then used proceeds from that to make their country one of the most popular tourism destinations in Africa and the world. Then they have become an IT hub offering outsourcing sokutions. They are currently one of the fastest growing educational hub in Africa and the world. You have loads of British and Australian school setting up campuses there. We really need to study what they did and implement it in Enugu. |
