The Senate President (Saraki) will inaugurate other Senators. It doesn't matter who was present or absent, as long as the election took place.
So, you're happy now that Saraki, "the ultra corrupt man" (according to you) is now the Senate president. And as soon as he decamps to PDP, he will become a "clean" man.

To all those celebrating can you remember how many Senate presidents Nigeria had between 1999 & 2003?
If Saraki's emergence is against APC's interest then watch EFCC go into overdrive in the coming weeks.

Honestly if Gbajabiamila get the speakership position, Tinubu won't have lost.

statements like this is why PDP will always accuse Tinubu of being influencial in the speakership position.

What does Tinubu get to benefit if Gbajabiamila becomes the speaker?
Re: Saraki Becomes Senate President by Nobody: 11:25am On Jun 09, 2015
51 senators are absent from the Senate house, this is funny

57 senators elected Saraki unopposed in the absence of 51 senators, something is wrong here

At the end of the day, Saraki was nominated by his party members, Dino Melaye and Yerima, which makes me wonder why PDP minions are going all 'we shall rise again' undecided

My brother, I shall always be grateful to God and to the firmness of brothers like you, mogidi, firefire, truckpusher, bayswater and sisters like Forwetinnah, Ecoterrors, Descartes etc. Together we expressed our support for Saraki, together we triumph against the "god-father" wannabe (Tinubu)! The era of godfatherism in National politics is long gone.

1) The main inauguration is done by the President (usually via a letter to the Clerk) (see Section 63 of the constitution). This is called the proclamation of the National Assembly. Buhari has already done this.

2) Senators take the oath of office before the Senate President and the constitution (in section 62) states that they can participate in the election of the Senate President before taking the oath.

A crack in the interest of Nigerians and the anti corruption crusade. Do you think people are really loyal to APC? The survival of Nigeria is the supreme interest not party postulations, THE HOUNDS WILL BAY FOR BLOOD.

Even though i prefer the Apc lets this slide except if they elect a pdp deputy. The courts will probably decide

Same thing others benefit. Political power and influence. It will be naive to deny that this is what all the political power strugglers want. It's what is causing this seeming rancour.

By the way, I personally want Saraki to be S.P and Gbajabiamila to be the Speaker. I don't necessarily know what Tinubu personally wants, but if I were him, this would play put nicely IF Gbaja wins.
