You don't know politics,its a case of if you can't beat them,you join them like Hillary,those that would have opposed Bukola out of the 57 had to support him when they see his supporters and no much opposition party there they had to rest their case because if they try to vote against him,which is not going to change anything,they knew he'd eye them and screw them up after emerging as senate president which they knew he'd be elected with the looks of things,if others were present,some that supported him now would have voted against him

But had PDP done that, things will be difficult for them. Because that alone will unite APC members.

But Right now, PDP is the beautiful Bride of the Senate. The backbone of the Senate President.

The Senate has been divided not along party lines this time but along interests and loyalty..

This 8th Assembly will be different from other Assembly..

I hope it strengthens our democracy and unites our Nation

But I ask..If there was a schedule of events, shouldn't Buhari have been at the venue at the stipulated time?

Buhari wasn't there physically but he sent the proclamation in form of a letter which was read by the clerk of the house at the beginning

I don't know if the proclamation is different from the letter president Buhari sent to the clerk last week to convene and inaugurate the 8th Assembly today.
I learnt that Letter was read at the beginning of the session today.

It's just been confirmed that David Mark is the senate leader.

But he's in the minority....

One thing needs to be said, I'm sure Saraki would have gotten the votes of a number of APC senators in a secret vote, so I do not see acrimony in the future. And certainly he will be aware that he needs presidential support to survive in the position, and if possible Buhari’s blessing for a future presidential run (Tinubu not being a viable option).
One thing that has disturbed me has been the use of the media against him. Even the false SR story... This has all been orchestrated by certain power blocks, while they have totally failed to explain why Lawan is a better option. As it is, Lawan has a reputation for being unapproachable (I cannot testify to the truth of that, but that is what people are saying) and the fact that Tinubu appears to support him has also dented his chances. Saraki will spend a lot of time now, mending fences, but I think he will understand the need to align even more with Buhari’s vision for government.
