After a keenly contested battle over the leadership of the 8th House of Representative, Yakubu Dogara emerges as the new speaker defeating his only opponent, Femi Gbajabiamila. it is worthy of note that both contestant are lawyers. It is hope that under his leadership this House of Representatives will make robust legislation that will impact on the ordinary nigerian .
Earlier, Dr. Bukola Saraki emerged as the Senate President after been nominated by Senator Ahmed Yerima and was unopposed following what some termed coup like election as other members of the Senate had gone to ICC to discuss the hullabaloo of the Senate leadership with Mr President and other APC leaders. Ike Ekweremadu was elected as the Deputy Senate President for the third time. We hope for better legislations this time around. Congrats
