AhmedMustapha: You probably didn't follow my argument with others above. I meant everybody is protecting their interests. And the one interest everybody protects is money they earn. There is absolutely nothing wrong in protecting yourself. Gabbysky: Yup another person who likes conspiracy theories. Let me ignore your "child" slur and respond to your post. Each country does what earns it money. As for US-Saudi oil deal, look at this link http://www.wallstreetdaily.com/2014/11/07/u-s-saudi-arabia-oil/ A quick quote from the story "Indeed, the Saudis are dropping their prices for oil exported to the United States so low that it’s cheaper for us to import foreign oil than use our own." The Saudis are willing to do this because they already have enough cash reserve and still want the world dependent on them for oil. If you think it's solely because of gay-marriage that made US quit buying from Nigeria, How likely do you see Saudi-Arabia saying yes to gay rights. I agree that the gay-rights thing is also an emotional trigger that made US quit buying from Nigeria but people really need to understand it's simply because of money that many people do things. 10 Likes |

DickDastardly:. Lol. This might be best piece of good news for a long time. No more reliance on oil. Osun case of not being able to workers could become a nationwide thing. I think it's time to get hoe & cutlass (or tractor if you can afford it) and head back to the farm. Farming to export food might be the way forward. If oil money seriously declines further, let's see if Nigeria can continue as one. If the "oil glue" will hold. 2 Likes |

We would find some other buyer -- no doubt. There is nothing as good as being independent. By now, we should be massively exporting refined products, totally controlling the West African market. Refined products don't have the OPEC cap that raw crude has, and it is more profitable. Time to roll up our sleeves. 2 million barrels/day of crude is too little in the first place for a country of Nigeria's size to be proud of selling. If countries like Malaysia, Singapore, Japan, with nothing on us in terms of oil reserves can be refining (for local consumption and export) excess of 1.5m-3.5m barrels/day of refined products (which fetches more), WTF are we doing collecting peanuts on crude?! If we didn't stop growing in 1984 (in that dept.), and mean business, we should be refining well in excess of 3.5m barrels/day by now + whatever amount of crude we sell . . . we'r talking probably earning 5-7 times whatever we'r earning right now in that dept alone. We'r talking jobs, infrastructure, prosperity -- and of course more loot for our gluttonous polithiefians. 14 Likes 2 Shares |

China knows what she wants. They see the direction that the new government is going and they are not comfortable with it in their national interest. We can't blame them. As for the West, I'm sceptical about their support! God help us! |

Yet some Niger Delta youths threatened they will ensure that Dangote does not buy NigerDelta oil for his Lagos based refinery. I said then that Dangote can buy his raw material from wherever he likes. NigerDelta which gets 13% derivation and Nigeria should be the ones begging Dangote that he must buy Nigerian crude for his Lagos refinery. When there's no demand, let's see where the petro-dollars will appear from to fight over. An investor with alternative sources of crude begging for attention can never be threatened by people who need his money more than he needs their oil. 3 Likes |
