roqchiq:You've made a lot of sense. As long as the Senate/national assembly doesn't work against the interest of the Nigerian people, I really could care less who emerged or how they emerged. |

EUROBOMBER:Politics is a war and not a battle. In a war, there are many battles and alignment are done per time, based on the battle and actors at that point in time. No one can cage anybody. Those guys are political elites, they are all know themselves very well --- each individuals weakness, strengths, sins and crimes. OBJ defeated PMB, Tinubu betrayed PMB, Tinubu betrayed Atiku for PMB, and all still worked together for PMB's emergence as president. Saraki betrayed PDP and he also just betrayed APC. Who is deceiving who? It is the chess game of the elites with the slogan of "no permanent foe, no permanent friend, only self interest is constant ". It is the masses that should learn to see through them all. Buhari has said the most important thing ---"he will work with whoever emerged as the leadership of the 2 houses". Our personal prayer should be, God Almighty will favour and bless each and every one of us in this new dispensation. Mind you, I have never been a supporter of any party, but a supporter of good governance and visionary leadership that detest corruption. |

superstar1:Then you should be as happy as I am that Buhari has found a way to push these guys to a corner so that he will be free to function as a true Nigerian president and not some weak dummy. For the bold part I say a big AMEN. I really hope to be blessed and proper beyond measure in this new era. |

omenka:So, the same people who painted him as a religious bigot by leading us to assume he had a majority of muslim official in his previous cabinet became more satisfied when they discovered that he actuall had more christian official in his cabinet. Isn't that religious bigotism in itself? During the campaigns, if Buhari had attended as much mosques services as GEJ had visited churches he would have been labelled a bigot for that. Since when did Nigeria become a christian country? Classic |
| Re: Buhari Has Caged Obasanjo, Tinubu & Atiku by omenka(m): 9:41am On Jun 10, 2015 |
hahn:You understand. They say he's a bigot when actually they are the ones swimming in bigotry. ![]() |
| Re: Buhari Has Caged Obasanjo, Tinubu & Atiku by hahn(m): 9:58am On Jun 10, 2015 |
omenka:So, PMB would have been proven to be a religious bigot if he had more muslims in his cabinet than christians but the same people who criticised him were happy because there were more christians than muslims. Isn't that religious bigotism in itself? Whatever happened to credibility and installing the right man for the job? And when did Nigeria become a christian society where it has become mandatory to have more christians than muslims in office? It is this kind of mentality that has made us remain in the same stagnant state for over 50years since gaining independence. Until people who have the right qualifications, vision and credibility to actually see the job through are installed in key positions as opposed to religious, tribalistic or ethnic bias the future still needs a torchlight |

I don't think Saraki's emergence as president of the senate is Buhari's grand plan. Saraki outsmarted all of them. I believe he was as surprised as Tinubu. Buhari can't play that high level dirty politics. |

The OP is simply too naïve, Buhari did nothing . . . .The power play was too dirty and brutal beyond what he could control. Dude took the easy way out in allowing chaos counter each other yielding worthy victors if any . . . . . Watch Tinubu re-enact a comeback, he might have been shocked rudely in this episode, but he is not someone to toy easily with when it comes to intra-party jungle power play. Atiku is the unseen and formidable Godfather the APC has, the band of G5 governors are loyal to him and what happened yesterday was a major statement of intent from the Governors cartel previously of the PDP. |

| Re: Buhari Has Caged Obasanjo, Tinubu & Atiku by Nobody: 12:25pm On Jun 10, 2015 |
AhmedMustapha:You have not read all my posts so don't conclude. I have called him timid here before, one of Jonathan's major undoing was that he had so much powers at his disposal but failed to uses them, it's like he never knew he was the number one citizen, the president and GCFR. When did I say I never wanted any man from the North? All I said during the campaign was that since we had a president from a minority tribe for the first time ever in the history of Nigeria, we should give him a second chance. I never hated Buhari and did not do any campaign of bitterness or wish him death, i used to like him a lot especially when he contested against Obasanjo in 2003 cos I wanted Obasanjo out at all costs. It was the boko haram problem and the case of fulani herdsmen in the MB that made me turn against him... |

EUROBOMBER Lol, I honestly don't think Buhari caged anyone. If anything, he just showed he's a spineless leader that can be pushed around, and that there are many structures within the party. And he's not in control. What happened yesterday was a dirty coup of power-play orchestrated by the Northern oligarchy within the party - and I believe he was carried along. Trust the other structure within the party to plot a counter-coup cos I don't expect them to give in easily, after everything they invested in it - unless they're weaklings. Not even two weeks into the new government and, Buhari has failed his first major test and it might end up consuming the party. A man who can't control simple politics within his own party, thus allowing free-for-all is a weakling. I don't expect all these APC e-rats to see that cos all they care about is getting their crumbs and screaming "Sai Buhari" everywhere like bleating goats, till their party collapses before their eyes. Furthermore, when you look at the way and manner in which the whole shebang was effected, you just have to laugh. Never in the history of politics in the world (at least since I've been following politics in the West from a young age) has the opposition, which also is the minority in the parliament, imposed a leader on the majority. It's very undemocratic. That's what happened yesterday and it shows PDP also controls a structure within APC (the Northern oligarchy), thus setting a precedence for a one-party state. And that's very problematic. Also, on the international scene, I also have mixed feelings about Buhari's unending cosy "romantic" photo-ops with the West. Yes, the West played a big role in his election (I know a lot of APC rats would disagree, but if you know, you know - if you don't, keep living), and he definitely owes them something cos nothing is free when the beast is the unseen hands. However, with the changing dynamics of the world and, emerging of BRICS (the GDP of BRICS should leap-out G7 in 2-3 years) and other blocs - the country ought to maintain neutrality on the outside, and do whatever it wants to do with the West without over-publicising it. Perhaps, that's the reason why China stopped buying Nigerian oil. Sitting next to David Cameron and Obama everywhere, with photo-ops is somewhat troubling and uncomfortable. Anyway, he has failed his first major test and it shows the party isn't under his control. |

| Re: Buhari Has Caged Obasanjo, Tinubu & Atiku by Shymm3x: 3:08pm On Jun 10, 2015 |
EUROBOMBER:Lol, "sirshymexx" is cotching and smoking backy in e-jail. The cabal of mods/supermods locked it up for two months, for no reason. But they can't keep the black man down and it should be back shooting slugs soon. Anyway, in as much as Buhari will be perform better than GEJ - he never had what it takes to turn Nigeria around, though he might be a decent man. But all the over-blown disciplinarian posturing is for gullible folks. Then you have the structure that can never let good governance permeate to the people. And he just showed he's a weakling since the party structure isn't in his hands. A good leader would've called the warring factions together - and get everyone to make concessions, so as to present a united front to the opposition. He never did that and APC folks just showed themselves out as clowns, with the structure from PDP also in control of APC. Buhari isn't in control. That was why I was laughing at the clowns touting the non-existent Nigerian "exceptionalism" on the Zimbabwean thread - and I still don't see how Nigerian "democracy" is different from Zimbabwe's. The smoke has started clearing and folks will get the bigger picture soon. As for the Tinubu man, ol'boy was just living in his own fantasy world by being overbearing in national politics. He doesn't have the numbers to compete with the Northern oligarchs and the earlier he starts making concessions, the better for him - else they'll shut him out completely. The North owns Nigeria. But if he can get OBJ firmly on his team, that might be his holy-grail to at least put up a decent fight. However, he might have to take one for the team for the sake of Nigerians and for the APC cos this doesn't look like it's going to end well. Regardless, fvck all of them and the dream they're selling to gullible Nigerians - they're all rogues. APC/PDP - two sides to the same coin. And also watch-out for the SE - the Northern oligarchs are coming for you lot as well when they settle down into their ordained seats as the owners of Nigeria. They won't let BH slide like that. |
| Re: Buhari Has Caged Obasanjo, Tinubu & Atiku by Nobody: 5:09pm On Jun 10, 2015 |
Shymm3x:The bold part is so true. Don't you think that Buhari was part of the plan to have Saraki installed as Senate president to check Tinubu's influence? What has the SE got to do with BH? BH started under late President yar'Adua. Besides, the BH problem is yet to be solved as they are still going around blasting people to pieces all over North even with Buhari as president.. |
| Re: Buhari Has Caged Obasanjo, Tinubu & Atiku by Shymm3x: 8:36pm On Jun 10, 2015 |
EUROBOMBER:Obviously, Buhari knew about it before hand. If he didn't, there's absolutely no way he would've accepted the result. Especially with the way it was orchestrated. He might be weak - he's not stupid. Just watch - these people aren't messing about. I'm sure you saw the Amnesty International report, they're just getting started. |
