Hi folks,

Pls. with the BVN expiry slated for the end of June and for those of us who started our programme last year. Obviously, the expiry would affect peeps like me who has money in my account. The problem now is transferring the money to my UK account at least the much that i'm going to need before my programme rounds off. Considering the limit on the amount of withdrawals per day, the killing exchange rates and the transaction charges. Does anyone has a better way to transfer this money to my UK account? I recently found out about this TransferWise website but they don't have from Nigeria to UK yet but the reverse is possible. I'm also thinking Western Union but I haven't looked at it yet...Does anyone has a better suggestion for me?

No it won't. The bank should exempt you once you can prove to them you are now resident in the UK. Speak with ur account manager.

Oh ok! i get what you mean now... yes they add 4 months but your course is less than 12months, basically 9months. So i guess they are charging you full academic calendar(which is about 9months) plus extra months you will stay.

Though i think its unfair because many students don't even use the NHS

Nobody is glorifying the UK, you failed to do your research before coming, just as you haven't been to Austral or Canada but keep singing their praises, don't just read the headlines, the devil is in details in every immigration policy.

owkay...now I've got ur attention . here's d drift please I need candid advice on which school to accept btw

a) Coventry University which is doing pretty gud amongst oda schools plus dey've got sum pretty career programs (such as d GLP and IEMS) dat will really benefit me. AND

b) Sheffield Hallam University which is also not bad in d ranking and they are giving me £3000 discount (Dats close to a million box ). plus its cost of living is cheaper dan Coventry.

Haha, that's a pretty decent offer bro, I wish I had such opportunity, lol. I would advise that you go for SHU. I would have advised otherwise if you are considering say, Uni of Manchester vs SHU, you get what I mean? I finished from SHU and I can assure you that it's a decent University. Study hard, get good grades and you are good to go.

As for me, my SHU degree (with se.xy grades) earned me some pretty decent PhD positions outside the United Kingdom. I'm a proud Alumnus

A PHD on top of a degree is going to cost a LOT of money, that will put a lot of people off.
A PHD in a good subject from a good school is almost certain to gain employment but it still takes a long time to earn back the cost of schooling.
Choose the wrong subject or poor school and you can still end up selling yams in the market, even with a PHD.

justwise:
People don't talk about it because doing PhD is costly if you don't have funding from the school. Universities in the UK rarely fund PhD since the government withdrew funding from universities. So schools fund PhD programs and they pick carefully who benefits from it.
