A sinner upon Tawheed* is still better than a
righteous person upon Shirk:
Narrated Abu Dharr ﺭﺿﻲ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻨﻪ that the Prophet ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ said: “Jibreel ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﺍﻟﺴﻼﻡ said:
‘Nobody says: 'None has the right to be
worshipped but Allaah' and then later on he dies while believing in that, except that he will enter Paradise.’” I (Abu Dharr) said: “Even if he had committed illegal sexual intercourse and theft?" He ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ said: “Even if he had committed illegal sexual intercourse and theft.” I said: “Even if he had committed illegal sexual intercourse and theft?” He ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ said: “Even if he had committed illegal sexual intercourse and theft.” I said (the third time): “Even if he had committed illegal sexual intercourse and theft?” He ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ
ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ said: “Even if he had committed illegal sexual intercourse and theft, in spite of the Abu Dharr’s dislikeness.” [Saheeh al-
Bukhaaree and Saheeh Muslim]
In another narration Abu Dharr ﺭﺿﻲ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻨﻪ said: The Prophet ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ said: “Gabriel came to me and informed me that whoever among my followers died without committing Shirk (joining others in worship with Allaah), would enter Paradise.” I said: O Allaah’s Messenger! Even if he had committed illegal sexual intercourse and theft? He ﺻﻠﻰ ﺍﻟﻠﻪ ﻋﻠﻴﻪ ﻭﺳﻠﻢ said: “Even if he had committed illegal sexual intercourse and theft.” [Saheeh al- Bukhaaree and Saheeh Muslim]
*the sinners upon Tawheed, they will either be punished on the Day of Judgment for their sins or Allaah will forgive them but they will not be forever in Hell. As for the Mushrikeen, either they be Jews, Christians or a grave-worshipers, they will receive the reward in this world for their righteousness but in the Hereafter, they will have a terrible punishment and eternity in Hell.
