The school management should have warned the student and caution the teacher. How was he suppose to know he would be fired?
I'm commenting on his reaction and it's probable consequence. True it was a gross insult but one cannot escape such things in life (at least once in a while). Lashing out in anger on a child/student is not always a wise decision. The parent could decide to drag your azz to court for assault and the school will disown you. Resigning peacefully is the best option.

Preparing your CV
Before submitting your CV here are a few tips to bear in mind:

Ensure that the information you provide is relevant and up to date.
Your CV must make your skills and your achievements accessible to the reader.
Present your experience and education in reverse chronological order - most recent first.
An introductory personal profile that sums up your skills and experience and explains the type of job you are looking for works well.
Before submitting your CV here are a few tips to bear in mind:

Name, address, contact details (telephone numbers and e-mail addresses)
Skills and knowledge
Management and other experience
Achievements
Training and development
Highest level of education with Class of Degree
The accompanying covering letter should highlight the relevance of your CV, answer points raised in the job advertisement and show enthusiasm for the role.

Also, while writing your CV,ensure you use your address in the State you are applying to(eg Lagos address if you are applying to Lagos)
If you are more than 25years old, omit your age(unless requested by the company)in your CV(simply put, don't put it)
If you have a second class lower in your degree, just write second class Hons(no need writing 2:2 cos you will be screened out outrightly and so you will not have the opportunity to proof yourself)
If you have a High 2:1 or a First Class degree, put your CGPA there(beside your name,in your CV).It will make your CV catchy and unique.
If you are a fresh graduate and you were(or still are) close to your Head of Department, use him/her as one of your referees. In fact use him/her as your number one referee(this will give credibility to your candidacy).
If you can defend your project topic, bravo put it in your CV(It will really go a long way in helping the employer/HR make a quick decision).
Also ensure you put the relevant courses you did as an undergraduate student(this applies to Fresh graduates only)

artisticallyart, I'm still here. I'm still serving, though POP is next month. No vacancies at my PPA, that's why i haven't posted anything.

For those in Akure, try these Schools: Pacific Academy, Becky Parker college, Preston, Impact high School, St. Francis college etc etc. The schools here hardly ever advertise so one wouldn't know when there's a vacancy. They pay fairly well too, i think preston college pays highest at around 60k or thereabout.

Opiosko:
Why didn't you resign honorably? Flogging the spoil brat out of anger could land you in trouble if corporal punishment is outlawed in the school. You could get sued for assault.
Are you for real? Flogging a spoilt brat who insulted me(her teacher) could land me into trouble? That your statement reeked cowardice. Like you don't know this is Africa, where we don't joke with respect for elders. Even the bible that opined that it is in the heart of children that 'madness' resides, and that cane is the only way through which it can be removed. So God wasn't civilised ba? Keep deceiving yourself!

To resign honourably would have been self-defeating. Like I tried to save-face so as to avoid any 'unforeseen' consequence. Although, the child's parent did threaten to let hell loose. I really don't know who that saviour of theirs was that advised them to thread with caution. Let me not sound like a vain-braggart, but ask those who know me, they will tell you I'm not a weakling.

That I didn't apologise to the management in the face of the whole saga should suggest to you that I didn't feel any remorse. I even told them, if it happens a hundred times, I would still do the same thing. Well, most of my colleagues @ Laureates College are here on this forum and they could testify to all that I've just said.

One advice for you bro, go find your balls wherever you dropped them. You just sounded like a pathetic weakling!

P.S: I guess this issue has been over flogged, and so I wouldn't bother responding to anything pertaining to it again.

Truth is I definitely knew what the consequence of what my 'so-called' action would be, but I damned it. I've been a teacher there for more than a term, and I'm privy to a lotta things that happened there. I just don't want to wake up every morning and see a 'coward' in the mirror when I shave.

Personally, it was a case of my ideologies been smeared just because I want to earn a living. No! I'm not that kinda man! Bro, it's a complicated story without any subtitle. But in all, I never regretted my action and 'inaction'. As at today, I'm doing well in my present endeavour. And if the aroma of that job which I'm perceiving is anything to go by, I think it will be a double blessing for me... Trust me, I'll share my testimony here!

Meanwhile, a reputable school around Kiri-kiri town Lagos is in need of someone who can teach both biology & chemistry. Any interested person should please call Christian on 07034822797.

Ah! I know what you want to ask. Salary range is 30K upward. Although, it's negotiable sha.

I guess it's because our attention is divided through the whatsapp group.

Besides, most peeps here are gainfully employed and some have ported from teaching to other lucrative sectors.

Gbam. You have said it all.

I just didn't want to reply opiosko. His comment was quite annoying to me and I may not reply him calmly like you did.

If we can have more people like you in the industry, school owners will sit up and know it's not business as usual.

More power to your elbow.
