sponsoring yourself is not the best move when it cmes to canadian visa application......you haveto havea concrete home tie to back it up.....most likely a family to leave behind like wifes and children.
instead u have to look for a sponsor...
Impossible is nothing! From my experience, people have self-sponsored themselves for PGD and Diploma prog. to Canada on this forum. I also got medical call in 2011 as a self-sponsor(still in Naija though) and I was single. Though I wrote a convincing SOP and I have good hometies which I explained on my SOP.

I think there's a sense of relief around the house now.
If you can package the right documents and ask yourself the questions the VO would ask you about your app and answer them accordingly with the right documents or SOP then back it up with prayer.

Let the medicals continue next week....
Where are the may guys?

@dedicateDD

Chrisviral has answered you. even the 2 'posts' before yours, na still ur mata dm dy talk...

Let me repeat what d said, yes you can sponsor yourself if yu think you have all it takes. You need to draft a convincing SOP and present very good hometies.

*i stand to be corrected*

smiley The quote was meant to inspire the guy and others who might feel their chances are slim to sponsor themselves, even when they have the means; and they don't have or cannot get a sponsor. 2011 or 2015, the fact still remain, being a self-sponsor cannot rule out your chance of getting a study visa to Canada.
It all depends on individual case and story. smiley
Keep calm & enjoy your weekend sir.

@kol1234 abeg answer my question , i also plan on going to u of alberta for msc but don't know where to start from.

KELVIN086:

hello sir, congrats on chopping ur trv, but what im most interested in ur application package is ur msc admission to uni of alberta, hw did u secure the msc did u mail any prof in ur department or is ur gpa extremely high, i intent to apply to this same uni for msc in elect/elect winter(january) admission, i have an average gpa of 4.02/5.0 what are my chances of being accepted, i don't want to waste money on sending my transcript if i know the school won't accept me , a single transcript from my school costs 25,000 and i plan on applying to three schools,
so my questions 1. which schools you applied to 2. what are my chances of getting msc admission in u of alberta 3. what was ur undergrad gpa

You can start from Google...like seriously you already know the school you want to apply why can't you go through their website and the website of the department to find about their requirement and how to apply....every school have different requirements...you have a good grade and you can even get a scholarship...most of this schools website has detailed information about everything and I mean everything you need to know...you just have to be a little patience and do some research online...you don't have to wait for anyone to tell you how he secured his admission or his undergraduate grade...the best place to get your information is from the school...anything you don't understand ask your department graduate assistant...she's your best friend in school and will be glad to answer your questions...I don't even know about Naira Land until I got admission and scholarship and I'm ready to apply for TRV...so you shouldn't just be here and be asking people to tell you how they got theirs while everything is there online...

Onyeoma3:

Why are you so depressed? You don't need to be... Cheer up,you're getting there.... Just be resilient and persistent.

I would advise that in the coming week from Monday, contact more professors in other similar research areas. For instance, if you wanna do a corrosion based research, you could also look at contacting a supervisor in Surface science and engineering or material characterization and processing field. If you check their work/publications, you'll see that they do some research in those fields as well which implies how close the fields are. Don't limit yourself to only 3 professors. Try and contact at least 10 professors.. 1 person MUST reply positive, just believe.

Hi Onyeoma. Thanks so much. I am doing just what you suggested. It's just so frustrating that I can come this far and be let down. But I still have faith. I will keep trying for the one week I have left. Thanks again for caring. God bless.

Bro;na Canada ship you dey set sail for now??What of your USA visa;na so you just abandon am?,after all the sleepness nights??

Although I got the visa, the US just wasn't for me at this time (my parents are just recovering from financial difficulties that arose after I got my visa) so Canada seems like a relatively cheaper and safer alternative for me. Besides, I can always go to the US for a Masters degree.

How is the US treating you? smiley
