I'd try to be as elaborate as much as I can in terms of labour cost and material cost, while I take my fellow NLers tru work progress on site..... Join me on this wonderful ride

land was provided by the school and so we didn't have to clear the land.
land characteristics
1) flat table land
2) site soil is sandy with patches of hard clay at some sections
3) there's a well close by and we were provided steel tanks , so we've not decided whether we'd pump from the well or buy tanker loads

work progress so far.
day 1.... pegging of the building done
day 2.... we had some indigenes who started digging. the proposed duration of the digging is 3 days. so far we're 75percent done with digging on the second day.. we had delay due to hard clay soil, which took longer for the laborers to dig.
we've started digging column base and hopefully we'd be tru digging tomorrow afternoon and do light blinding for the column bases

project scope...
the project is a library complex, the gross area of the building is 600sqmt, that's about 30m x 20m, almost a plot size. it's a combination of bungalow and one suspended floor combined into a single building. and the proposed duration is 2 months.

I've not been able to upload pictures yet because of the slow network here, but I'd do as soon as I can

foundation digging

work is moving slow and steadily ...though we re behind schedule ....we concluded foundation base casting today. by tomorrow we would be casting column bases and start forming for the first course of blocks....weather has been favorable too for we've not experienced rain...BUT THE SUN NA DIE O...

That is a very good deep foundation level. Nice.

Nice job..I used to work at General hospital, Obangede some years ago.

using lines and plumb to erect iron reinforcemts for columns ....the baskets are 1200mm by 1200mm while the starter rods height are 2.4m......concrete mix for the foundation and column base is 1:2:4. the rods sizes are 12mm for the baskets and 16mm for the starter bars. works moving...oluwa be praised

You can only understand if you listen to Yoruba Fuji Music o.
Mogaji (Gajji) is the guy that operates Funeral Home somewhere in Lagos, and you know Mortuary, Funeral Home, and Casket all goes together meaning DEAD... so it goes like that.. That is just the summary... So Gajji+Mortuary+Funeral Home+Casket=DEAD. It's a Fuji Music thing.

back to business.....block laying and column base casting commenced today.... in 3 days we should be tru with block work if the masons should continue at this rate of work. estimated blocks to be laid are 3000 blocks to dpc level....brc wire mesh and more iron reinforcements have arrived site today

block work finished today and by Gods grace we'd start the earth filling tomorrow. filling sand would be delivered to site tomorrow morning. we are targeting about 30 trips of filling sand .

work has been moving at a very rapid rate. we did filling yesterday and today we started floor casting.
total trucks used for filling is about 60 10tons trucks,
floor casting commenced today as earlier mentioned.we could cast only 2/3 of the total floor area of 640sqmt

Did u use 1.44sqm basket for all d columns, judging by some space provided in d trench, I doubt if it can accommodate a 1.2 by 1.2m basket. But d foundation is very deep, even on a dry land, nice work!
