Buhari's car was provided by Jonathan as part of the transition committee arrangments.

I have a feeling it was initially meant for Jonathan's use anyway.

But if you must know, cars for officials in govt are renewed every 5yrs....and it means the latest os always procured because it is usually same price as the older one was 5yrs ago.

GEJ's official car as president was not an S350, but an S600 Guard with OEM armoury valued at over $400,000 while having two other regular S600s in his convoy.
PMB's official car is not an S600 Maybach but a regular S550 4matic valued at less than $200,000 with 3rd party armoury (I don't know why he chose 3rd party armoury, maybe to cut cost, because the OEM is better), while having two other regular S550s in his convoy. So please OP, don't open silly threads to spew your ignorance.
Please note that 3rd party armoury very rarely goes north of $100,000.

In most cases, it's security agencies that recommend the kind of car considering the power, the protection it offers and so on. So when a new car is to be bought they submit their recommendation to whatever body it's responsible for approval. This is the reason OP, they couldn't have just handed him a Corolla like you'll have liked. If Buhari leaves before they're due for a new one, he leaves the car he doesn't take it back to Daura with him
