Back to the military regime. Turning Aso Villa to Dodan barracks. Can a leopard really change its skin? Thank God decrees may not work this time around. Or will they?

Soldiers have always been in the Aso Villa. They make up the Brigade of Guard.

God bless the President.

The job of the DSS is different...the SSS are secret state police who normally should not be seen with rifles or uniform. They are meant to mix with people, gather intelligence to feed the military and police force.

The DSS in the villa are not body guards, they are meant to have specific day to day ordinary roles which allow them go unnoticed as they monitor underground activities.

But today what we have is an SSS trained for bodyguard services, leaving the job of intelligence gathering to nobody and everybody...why else do you think nobody knows when or where boko haram is about to strike? Why do you think nobody knows the whereabouts of the chibok girls?

PMB wants to return the DSS to it's main purpose, to secretly monitor the state of security of the nation.

I beg to disagree. SSS carry arms, but most times concealed. In most countries, the presidency is protected by special trained forces not military.

I recall how IBB rendered the Nigeria Airforce useless after the botched Vatsa coup and till today Nigeria airforce is the worst outfit in the military, today PMB is doing same to the DSS because of his paranoia

Instead of paralysing the DSS, he should seek for its overhaul if he isn't comfortable with them as presently constituted.

Stop misleading the Public. Go and read the NSA Act pls, the act estblishing DSS, DMI and NIA. The constitutional power to protect the President resides with the DSS.

So what is the duty of the Guards Brigade of the Nigerian Army which reports directly to the presidency and not the Chief of Army staff.

is only in Nigeria that the Military play active role in Democracy, it's such a pity, simply because somebody is desperately seeking to be NSA, he is bent on destructing the stipulated status quo. Evn in the US which we are modeling after, the Secret Service are the one incharge of the safety and security arrangements around the President, but in NIgeria the reserve is the case. Today is one ally private security firm or the other, now military as protective details and all other.
God please save our country from imminent military coup.

He should thread with care. In the USA, FBIUSSS( tmanuelle) does that and not the military, likewise other well meaning developed countries. Is he afraid? If he can't make all arms of the Nigerian security outfit trustable, then he has no business being the president. If he is not feeling safe with the current state of DSS, he should overhaul it rather than spitting to their face.

This old man is playing with fire.
Thailand a far developed democratic country recently had a coup.
This old man should keep the military from the seat of power and allow them focus on their job of protecting Nigeria and crippling bokoharam and all the numerous local and international threats facing Nigeria.
If he dosen't feel comfortable with the DSS, then sack whoever you want to sack and choose your own people to head it.
History always repeat itself for those who fail to learn from it.

What a shame... So bringing the military to occupy the Strike Force unit of Aso Villa is putting them in the helms of power? Your foolishness tho...

God bless you for this explanation, as commander in chief of the armed forces it is the military's duty to protect him through the brigade of guards. Me think DSS has been politicized over the years and operatives are now bodyguards instead of intelligence officers.

The old man is dangerously antagonising the DSS.
The same DSS that protected OBJ, yaradua and GEJ.
And it is only the DSS that can protect him in the event of a coup.
Illiteracy in a leader is a very dangerous thing.

You just displayed your woeful knowledge of DSS duties. Their duties include VIP protection and averting threats to Law and Order. It's not limited to Intelligence Gathering alone
