A very good idea, but Please protesting on a Saturday might not really work it's better on a Monday or any other day of the week, we can also spread the idea round and I believe with very little effort we can get a lot of support. Someone also mooted this idea on rainbow fm this morning, I have read in this thread that Bar. Ubani did the same thing on another radio station, a friend also called me this morning to discuss the possibility of a protest, we just need to spread the word around and not limit it to nairaland ot twitter.
My brother, you know some people are employees in the private sector that they may not be too disposed to working days. The said day "Saturday" will help get the numbers, then the march to Alausa. People will join if we are serious. Some of us that can afford to remain at the protest ground to welcome the state legislators on Monday will do so. Some people may join that Monday and you never can tell the spark it will create and the effect it will have. Just an idea bro

Better still, can't we petition the body responsible for drafting NASS salary? I believe the legislators will say they are not the ones fixing their salary and renumerations...
the RMAFC only execute whatever the NASS approves. It is usually reviewed every 5 or 8years if I'm not mistaken. They have no power to slash even if they want to. The bulk stops in the NASS

Sorry for my outburst boss...Cc torkata...

But we need this protest as it will bring immediate result than recall option offered by my man@torkata...Recall is a VERY rigorous process if not impossible...
This is how we do it,let's do the protest, and we will state it categorically during interview to the media that we will recall any I repeat any of the law makers that collect the wicked and barbaric allowance,we will go to their various constituency,we will malign them, expose them, and disgrace them, and they should not think about re election

@barcanista, we shouldn't just go and protest like chickens without heads, what exactly are we fighting against? The wardrobe allowance is chicken change because these legislators get 250% of their basic salary as constituency allowance. That should be our FOCUS.

Are you for real?

Have you thought of many who have not been paid a dime for the past eight months?

Have you thought of many wandering about without any hope of eating today?

Have you thought of many jobless graduates who are even more qualified than the thieves in the NASS, struggling to survive?
There will always be poor people my brother beside i dont think all these money is our major problem,Nigeria is damn Rich! if government can stop corruption this country is going to be like DUBAI,they have been collecting this money since 1999 and am sure Barcanista knows it he is just being an arse looking for a way to bring down the new government

. . . . . . . . . . .how long can you hold such a protest in the raining season? . . . . . . . . . . .at what point do you envisage that people will break and go back home? . . . . . . . . . . . .I repeat, start with your individual representatives, that way you will force them to talk and say where they stand (instead of hiding behind a collective decision) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . it is high time one of these assembly members is made a scape goat using the recall power . . . . . . . . . . . .if 109 and 360+ are faced with a recall, what are the chances of not catching one fish?
Recall power is the sure way out.

For God's sake, what the hell is wardrobe allowance? They gets furniture allowance, house allowance, land allowance etc. What do they do with their salary? Goshh!!!

Nigeria is not rich at all, well not anymore anyways. Richness to me is high Gdp (per capital), and High Hdi. We are not even in the top 30 in either.

They collect 250% as constituency allowance and another 40m each every quarter for "Constituency project" (all end up in pockets).

This protest should be for the suspension of the proposed N9b payment first. Then among ourselves we nominate people to thoroughly look into the earnings of these legislators and we all propose a new one for them and real cut. We take this proposal to the NASS and force them to pass it into law for implementation (this should be the long term focus). Right now the immediate one is the N9b allowance that they are planning to take next week. We can't afford to fail

he probably meant to say Nigeria has potentials. But we are not a rich country yet. Our GDP, HDI and others testify to that.

That things have been done wrongly since 1999 doesn't mean we have to carry on with it in 2015 especially when the nation is bleeding. Besides, this is a step toward the fight against corruption as I see this as a disguised corrupt practice.

I understand your misgiving about the OP but this is a fight for Nigeria. A fight to start the process of taking back our country from the corrupt politicians.

Btw, the money was approved under GEJ's administration and not PMB's.

The only solution is to reduce people in Government, either 3 rep from each state and 2 senators,As Sanusi said Nigerian Politician are consuming close to 50 percent of the total revenue generated in this country,People in government are just so many

There are many solutions and to stop (or reduce) the wardrobe allowance is surely one of them.
