Its hypocrisy to reject subsidy removal in 2012 only to accept same in 2015

Are we ready for the impact of officially selling PMS at 160 naira per litre in lagos and 230naira per litre in maiduguri and sokoto?

Are we ready to buy a cup of garri for 100 naira?

What will cushion the inflationary impact?
Until our trains are effective enough for transport of goods and max. Production of our refineries..... It will be a premature move.

If all the results from anti-corruption moves of this Government is anything to go by, then it is commendable. Price of kerosene needs urgent probe and mass arrest of all filling- station selling above N50.00 should be carried -out to investigate there activities as this will lead us to knowing the cost of getting the product which make them sell for N150.00 even after subsidy. Those that are getting allocation without any license / link to petroleum business who then re-sell / transfer to the original marketers with additional charges will then be identified along with their cronies.

Re: Transition Committee Proposes Removal Of Fuel Subsidy by cabaliciouscabal: 6:47pm On Jun 20, 2015
The 4 refinery we have cannot produce enough fuel we need everyday and as such we need to compliment dem by importing d short fall, is on d short fall d govt is removing d subsidy, so d imported fuel will compete price like with d local production, and dat will automatically bring down d price of fuel to d lowest, it will equally make Naira to be strong cus dia won't be much need for d importers to want to change much Naira to buy dollars to import fuel, is a gd one if d govt can adopt dat.
Re: Transition Committee Proposes Removal Of Fuel Subsidy by Themandator: 6:58pm On Jun 20, 2015
Going by APC argument during the Campaigns, the subsidy recommendation is needless since, according to them, it doesn't exist.

Tam David West should be given the petroleum sector to handle.

I dont mind this decision, if they have thought about it carefully.

I only insist that any announcement of fuel subsidy removal must start with a sincere apology to GEJ for the hypocrisy we witnessed in Jan 2012 from the APC led opposition at Ojota.

Cest Fini!!!
They apc knows that GEJ was up to good to Nigerian but it look like the ónly disagreement were that the change should not come from him, a minority. Becos am seeing this new govt just drawing clues from the past government for administration. Up Gej and God help Buhari to lead us well in every part of the country.

Was it not same bloody thing Jonathan was doing? Tell me one thing Buhari has done differently apart from snapping photos like Kim Kardashian everywhere he goes.

Why are Nigerians so so gullible? Why? Na swear? Just this morning one 700 naira per day APC agent attribute turn around maintenance performed by Jonathan to Buhari and typical of the illiterates in Nigeria headed by a chief illiterate they swallowed it hook, line and sinker.

Please I beg you all o. Some of you may be too old already and almost irredeemable but please in God's name make sure your children go to school. Good school so they can know propaganda from fact. Please let's educate the next generation please.

Its not as though nigerians really wanted the subsidy to stay during GEJ era, they only doubted the sincerity of the govt to put the funds to good use.

Now dat we have a new govt dat promising accountability , we manage to take the risk and walk this path

The horrors of fuel scarcity in the last two months is still a dripping wound in our memory

However if this govt "marsh" line by going back on its promise, we still know where our voters card dey

Unfortunately for this government, the bread and and butter of the Nigerian economy is with the opposition.

This is a good time to be a political negotiator.

Season two of the APC PDP drama coming soon.

Remove the subsidy and rehabilitate all refineries, including building new ones. In the medium term those marketers and corrupt government officials will come crashing down.
Re: Transition Committee Proposes Removal Of Fuel Subsidy by ndcide(m): 8:52pm On Jun 20, 2015
How can you remove subsidy that you claim don't exist.
That is my question.
If subsidy does not exist, why remove it.
Re: Transition Committee Proposes Removal Of Fuel Subsidy by tete7000(m): 9:08pm On Jun 20, 2015
I thought APC claimed subsidy doesnt exist and that subsidy claim was a PDP fraud. Tam David West even claimed PMS can sell for N40 without subsidy. Which subsidy are they now proposing to remove, the one they claimer doesn't exist? They better be careful. Fuel price must go to N40, no increase will be tolerated and no money must be claimed to have been spent on subsidy. Nonsense liars.

You can remove a scheme for siphoning money through a fraudulent mechanism called fuel subsidy payments.

The intention of fuel subsidy made sense as long as it was with the goal of being a stopgap measure until local refineries were up and running.

If ghost vessels and unverifiable claims for subsidy returns are made, I'm sorry to say that is no subsidy.

If the idea behind subsidy payments was to create a conduit for pocketing what should otherwise go into the common purse one may be pushed to call it a fraud.

The lexicon isn't important, the import of the message is that a scheme that leaves the masses out of pocket and drains on the common holding of the populace with very little benefit to the intended beneficiaries should be dumped and rightly so.

Now you're here accussing him of milking the country dry with subsidy. Don't you have any atom of shame in you?

There was no ambiguity in my question. It's either subsidy exist or it doesn't. That subsidy is mismanaged is a different thing.

We can't claim subsidy don't exist and yet want to remove it. Such insinuation is highly political.

The system and issues of subsidy in 2012, have not changed in 2015. What seem to have changed is what some people now think.

I think there is a difference between technicality and reality.

Technically speaking there's a subsidy mechanism. The reality is that it is a conduit for looting state funds.

On the other hand for there to be subsidy of a product it means the benefactor (government), accrues money from a source (oil sales in the case of Nigeria) which is meant to be monies for the common purse. In other words subsidising the cost of Petroleum products using money raised from Petroleum products is sort of like chasing one's shadow
