With the approval of new universities in Nigeria by Jonathan, lots of job for qualified teaching staff have been advertised. In Nairaland alone i've seen lots of vacancies for universities.

Truth of the matter is there are jobs in Nigeria but there are less qualified candidates. Our youths of nowadays are okay graduating with a 3rd class or LMPG (let my people go) result and they somehow miraculously want to work in an oil company. undecided. In UK, you want a top graduate job, the lowest entry standard is 2.1. That's before they factor in experience, communication skills and the other stuffs.

Our youths are so lazy they do not make effort at educating themselves beyond undergraduate levels. Coupled with the archaic teaching standards of some universities that churns out half baked graduates. How can a graduate in Business Management or Entrepreneurship be searching for a job? Why not create jobs? Must we depend on Government alone?

To the youths, we should try to educate ourselves beyond basic Bachelors degree. There are lots of cheap professional qualifications one can get. And also you can study for a masters degree online at your own pace. Online learning has evolved and now highly recognized as on-site learning. You can be an employer of labor like me wink wink grin. Government nor go fit pay us if we leave our business say make we find work.

To the adults, it may be too late already but please in God's name let us educate our children no matter how much it costs. Send them to good schools so they can learn properly. So they can learn the difference between propaganda and facts. The last election showed us how much we Nigerians are uneducated even though we think we are! Them deceive us black and blue well well.

You are very right. I am always very scared to express this thought in the public because you will termed insensitive and possibly wicked.
The truth of the matter is that there are jobs everywhere. But the quality of graduate available is very appalling. Its sickening to a fault.
Employers are not charity organisations they want good return on their investment and bottomline is who brings in the needed expertise to make the company grow.
What we have is not lack of employment. What we have is lack of skill for the available jobs. There is need to go outside the paper qualification and begin to learn skills.

At 23, many people around the world are still at university -- at that age, Gossy Ukanwoke had already started one.

The young entrepreneur is the founder of Beni American University (BAU), Nigeria's first private online university. Launched in late 2012, the school allows students to access their classes at any time of the day with any internet-enabled device.

Ukanwoke does not plan to be restricted to the internet though. While changes in technology have helped encourage and build-up the introduction and use of different platforms of education; and despite the fact that in other parts of the world, online degrees are gaining recognition, Nigerian educational regulations stipulate that online schools must have a physical campus. That’s why he is building physical structures for B.A.U in Benue State, for which hectares of land have been purchased from the indigenes.

this is what is wrong with Nigeria just because you have a good job doesn't make others lazy. Or do you think it's easy to 'start a business' in the current Nigeria atmosphere. Bro, get off your high horse!

Permit my sharp mouth to run!

After seeing the site of the said university, a lot are asking for location and bla bla bla...

Please are these people graduates? Or do they need to be told to visit the site, I mean website, of d school for more information? Or are u supposed to be practically or literarily spoonfed with all needed information?

I guess any graduate with such mentality will be shooting him/herself an AK-47 in d ankle.

Haba! Let's rise above such mediocrity and learn to work on reducing such stupidity!

By the way, d physical location of d school is Cross River state...and I got this info from d link in d advert!

Many better graduates are out there looking for job but could not get it. Nepotism is the order of the day, would you deny that? All of you shouting that Nigerian graduates are not employable, in what ways are you better than us? Keep on dreaming...and don't forget to tell me the enabling environment created for SME to strive.

As a piece of advice, please let your educational standard reflect in your writing. I figure you might have been in a hurry, but seeing the way you typed your words, I'd have assumed you at best had a 2:1 from some Nigerian University. A "distinction" in "MSc" from a "top" "UK" University would never have crossed my mind.

Thanks so much for doing your research about the school. After spending some minutes browsing through the University's site and related sites, I was sure it was no fluke. In fact, it seems to me that it'll be close to world-class. It's appalling to see people shoot down the university without doing basic research.

In Uk, they factor your experience first before your degree. Lots of people who did not go to university but did apprenticeships are getting paid well. Why do you think UK is still saying they lack skills when they produce a lot of graduates every year.

What do you mean by top graduate jobs? People say this all the time. Do you mean managerial post or working with large multinationals? I am in a study group with IT professional and part of the members are top guys from multinationals and some of them are not graduates and their take home pay is crazy. I am not saying cert does not matter but its definitely not a priority in most organizations. You have to have some sort of experience to get the big jobs. In my previous role, they had to sack a lady from the accounting department and brought in another without a degree but with experience. I am talking about a £70,000 to £80,000 role. Any recent graduate in the UK without experience cant get top jobs unless they use connections. They start from graduate trainee before moving up.
