What exactly did they "redefine"? Marriage, as it was originally, was a socio-political contract between two families. Marrying for love was quite unpopular before the 16th century.

I always knew it would be difficult to justify the prohibition on same-sex marriage where the 14th Amendment exists. It states, inter alia, in section 1 that "No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States."
However, religious institutions are still free to ban homosexual marriages in their buildings.

School is ok. I'll be a 2l next yr; and I'm also seeking to transfer to another school.
But the school I'm planning to transfer to costs about $11k in tuition per semester, though they award scholarships and federal loans are available.

The law was not constituted today,get informed.
The question the US SC answered today was whether marriage is a fundamental right n if so,whether under the Equal Protection Clause of their Constitution,same as we have btw,it is legal to deny gays such right as others enjoy.
Really,what two consenting adults do with their lives should be nobody's business so far as it is done within the ambit of the law.

I think what he meant to say was that the High Court should have left the decision to the states, instead of issuing a blanket legalization of gay marriage.
