My bet is the 2010 Ford Fusion.

Went to look around for one to buy in the cash for clunkers program and all the lots are empty of the 4 cyl models, they only have handful of the V6 trims(less than 5)@ about $30k. The car is beautiful and I'll say it will be the next big thing in Naija if they decide to try American cars.I already see them drooling over the old .

The 2011 Taurus is said to be the next big thing. This is getting interesting grin.

Which car do you think will be the car of the year?

Fusion is a waste of Money. In my opinion, it will be Hyundai Genesis. The V6 Engine can be had in the $30k's range. Much better than the fusion if you ask me.

Dealer's stock of 4 cyl Fusion is depleted, I wanted a SE with rapid spec 202a, the few V6 they have in inventoryis being sold at a firm price so they don't run out of stock they are offering is the $1500-$2000 rebate off MSRP. So my best bet now is the 1LT Malibu 4cyl with a 6-spd auto as a back up to my aging V8, I am not a fan of Japanese cars and there is no need to think of resale value if you plan to drive till wheel falls off.I'll try to close a deal tomorrow.

Promise and Sultaan
Pls whats the MSRP of these cars over there.
Someone is making enquiries of what it cost to bring it down here!
Can help out?
Re: The 2010 North American Car Of The Year Is : by sultaan(m): 11:59pm On Aug 26, 2009
Malibu is about $21k for a base model 4 cyl LS the one I was looking at was about +$1.5k 4 cyl 1LT, I could not justify paying that much for a loaded 4 cyl, when a V6 Fusion spec 202a was going to cost about $1k more. Both has almost same options.

Send me an email, i will gladly drive out to GA to give you a ride when you break down.

Enjoy it while it last. cheesy

I believe that is what a waranty is for. It drives great, the only problem is my swollen head is yet to come back to its normal size.
Very quiet, I have permanent hear loss from listening to the engine of the old ones grumble.

Decided to do a HID upgrade for the low beam. I went with the 6000k H11 bulb
It was one big ol' PITA getting to the bulbs, there is just no space in the engine bay to get to anything, had to go thru wheelwell to get to passenger side bulb.
Took out old bulb
Attached bulb to car wire harness, and harness to ballast. Then ballast back to harness.

A HID system is an equivalent of fluorescent light to normal bulb(that is why it uses ballast)

Right now I am dealing with a computer glitch which will be fixed with an antiflicker, but I want to try a canbus ballast first .

I got a 35w HID, imagine having fluorescent with low voltage and when car senses low draw it thinks bulb is burnt.

Pics to be uploaded soon

My post just keep getting deleted tongue

I guess some of us are meant to look around here.

I will post on the HID upgrade again soon.

Motor trend just picked 2012 Passat as car of the year.

Its ugly, won't sell they only picked it because the TDI gets 43mpg.

To encourage better fuel economy, the real winner came close second because they have a couple of V8 option.

So looking at the engine manifold and coil you can't tell if its a 6 or 4?
I'm sure you can't tell if its FWD or RWD.

My bad. I didn't notice the V6 engine in there. Must have been the 2" phone I was using.

I have no idea of the driven wheels though. ; D Thought a donkey pulled it or something grin grin

You can see 3 cylinders in the front the other 3 are in the back under the manifold will need to service engine and transmission very soon will post pics.

The car offered far more than Honda accord and Toyota Camry. If you car find a 2010 Cary or accord with reverse sensor, Bluetooth, satellite radio, sub drive and voice commands let me know. A new Titanium trim of this model is well loaded

Got to 100,000 miles last month on my way to myrtle beach still using original brake from factory and original transmission fluid so you know I have only changed tires engine oil and purge solenoid since I bought it will have to do trans and brakes asap

Not as bad as people think

Re: The 2010 North American Car Of The Year Is : by Nobody: 9:04am On Dec 31, 2015
100,000 miles represents approximately 10 years worth of driving.

For brake pads to last 10 years means you don't drive the car hard and fast. Brakes that don't work hard may have pads that last long, but may bring their own set of more expensive issues:

Seized rear caliper / parking brake mechanism.
Corroded and pitted rotors / drums.
ABS pump solenoid seizure due to internal corrosion.
Internal corrosion due to high moisture content.

In addition, your hydraulic fluid will require replacing more often than the stipulated 2 year intervals, as there will be more water absorbtion, as the brakes seldom get hot enough to keep moisture to a minimum. Left unchecked, the moisture will cause damage elsewhere.

My brake pads last approximately 2 years, and to me, that's pushing it. Ideally 18 months is desirable, as the caliper pistons at least get to be retracted more often, keeping the bores nice and clean.

Once you tired of this car, you can hand it over to me, I will take real good care of it. I admire the Taurus though reminds me of a lexus LS, but American cars don't have a strong hold yet in Nigeria except the Explorer, escape, focus and the Edge are still the more popular brand

Actually thinking of buying a new car Mustang or Camaro but the insurance cost is putting me off.I may have to change to Edge, Genesis,or CTS.
My employer is replacing/ selling some of their fleet cars so I can I opt for 2-3 year old Taurus or 300 for a low price below $13k

There is a plastic cover under the car to prevent road dirt from getting in the engine bay and all the roads are tarred.I don't even think I have washed the car more than 12 times since I bought it and I park outside.

7 years and 106,000 miles just finished doing oil change on 2 cars and a transmission service on the Ford.

Jus found a common problem with the Ford a left side axle leak which will require a new axle( bad finish on factory part caused the leak) new deal and brace changing brakes and rotors now not too bad for a 100 k miles

All years and models of Ford sir smiley

Also, y'all know Ford is not making cars in North America any more right? Just trucks, the focus and the mustang. GM way planning to do the same I'm not sure if a decision has been made yet.

So... Probably not best idea to buy a Ford car now because in the future there will be no parts. Same as Daewoo did.
