Rail Gun:
In development for years, the weapon would be able to fire a projectile at Mach 7, or seven times the speed of sound, hitting targets 110 miles away. (By comparison, a Hellfire missile travels a little over Mach 1.)

Instead of gunpowder as a propellant, it uses electromagnetic pulses, and the projectiles hit with such overwhelming force that they don’t need to be armed with explosives. The impact from traveling at such amazing speeds is enough, thank you very mu sad

The gun made its debut at the Navy’s Future Force Science and Technology Expo at the Washington Convention Center this week.

One top Navy official recently likened the impact to “a freight train going through the wall at a hundred miles an hour.” The lack of gunpowder and explosive warheads eliminates some significant safety hazards for Navy crews, officials say.

The US would easily win any war because of superior air power. However i doubt a 3WW involving nuclear force because the fear of retaliated attacks would discourage any country from being the first to lauch but who knows.

Sile12 do you have any info of missiles based in space stations capable of being launched from space. I was watching something like that on discovery one day.

The world was destroyed first by water and the holy book says fire will be used to destroy the world 2ND time.

There you have it. When one says they resent and dread another war in the country, the nairaland resident war mongers call one all manner of names from "slave" to "coward".

I don't know if it was Einstein but someone once said "I don't know the kind of weapons man would use to fight WWIII but WWIV would be fought with sticks and stones".

This means mankind is likely to bomb herself back to the stone age in an event of a WWIII.

War benefits no one but only military contractors and they are those that ensure the world never realise real peace.
