Helipad home: former NUJ president challenges David Mark to debate

Former national president of Nigerian Union of Journalists, Comrade Lanre Ogundipe has shared a photo of Senate president David Mark’s home in Benue state.

The photo below which Lanre shared on his facebook page, has been described as the country home of David Mark and it has got it’s own landing space for helicopters (helipad).

So why did TANoids not condemn their PDP Senate President for building a customized Helipad with our scarce resources? Hypocrites.

Most of the people ranting don't know the meaning of helipad

A helicopter landing pad (helipad) is a landing area or platform for helicopters. While helicopters are able to operate on a variety of relatively flat surfaces, a fabricated helipad provides a clearly marked hard surface away from obstacles where a helicopter can land safely.

Cost less than 5 million naira, compare it to cost of fuelling SUVs from Katsina to Daura in four years.

To everybody quoting me wrongly, I didn't say they won't fuel helicopter, what I am saying is the cost to build a helipad is reduced compared to the cost of fueling SUVs (jeeps) that will carry him from Katsina, the state capital that has airport to his hometown in Daura. In both cases, fueling of helicopter is compulsory.

The Tanoids are only making an issue out of nothing. Apart from David Mark's helipad shown above, former president Goodluck Jonathan also had a helipad constructed for him at his otuoke country home and nobody made an issue out of it.

Yeaaaa David Mark uses his private Helicopter from Abuja to Otukpo...

The painful aspect is that his 7 jeep convoy still travels empty from Abuja to Otukpo even when he uses his helicopter... I really wonder why he can't just park some jeeps for his use in Otukpo, So he can use them when he is in town...

Well That's My Country Nigeria.....

Where are the bl00dy tanoids now? They still can't get over the fact that Jonathan has lost the March 28th presidential election. Most of them think a helipad is an airport.

An helipad costs less than a million naira to construct depending on the terrain

He should use his salary to build it. The news says "FG is building". What becomes of it after his tenure ends? Will the government now sell it to him or just "dash" it to him. At least Mark built his with his money(whether stolen or genuine, is a topic for another day)

Honestly, I will have no problem with the FG funding the project IF at a reasonable cost. But the timing doesn't look right and makes it look like the comfort and ease of the President is more important than public projects.

The president has several allowance, one of such is the hazard allowance, if the President feel the need to visit his country home frequently, it's better to have an helipad there.
If the FG is building it then I would like to know out of which budget
