Good afternoon peeps,pls I want to know how long it takes for an american citizen to file for his/her siblings;younger brother to be precise.Anyone with experience or d idea can pls explain.thanks

It takes 10 to 12 years unfortunately... that's how long it takes for their application number to be current. If you still have parents, file for them then they can file for your brother. Hope this helps

At the moment they are working on applications submitted October 2002 so just over 14 year wait for a Nigerian being sponsored as bro/sis of a citizen.

^interesting, seems employment based visa has the fastest processing time.

Yeah employment based and spouse of US citizen are the quickest categories, followed by spouse of green card holders, then other families etc. brother/sister of US citizen is the last category hence why it takes so long.

Whilst the green card wait for employment based isn't that long, getting to the point of being able to apply takes a while as well i.e. you would at least have worked for a few years on work permit (H1/L1) before the company sponsors you for green card etc.
