On Anioma State we stand, anybody that is pushing for Adada, Njaba, Orashi or Enyimba States is doing that for his selfish reason.

Anioma is more viable and reasonable than any nonsense that will be carved out of SE again.

Unification of Igboland should be the watchword not fragmentation and balkanization.

You have to be careful when talking about unification. Let the clamour come from them unless ofcourse you are from Anioma

The way politicians embezzle fund in this country, sometimes worries a lot. We can only pray for better days, but then i get frustrated in my prayers when i see young ones toeing same line. Otherwise, what would make an SUG president pocket monies meant for students welfare or how can one explain yearly report of corps members who disappeared with monies meant for community project, not mentioning youths under cover of holy spirit but robbing jesus christ in his own churches. Sometimes, I think this country is beyond repair.

Anyway, the bolded part got me. Thanks!

Handsomegod:

Nice ideas and very feasible in realms where you have folks who are more driven by posterity and not transient gains. And that lead me to ask you,do we really have the caliber of leaders driven with enough discipline, foresight and patriotic values to adhere strictly to such medium term expenditure framework/rolling plans, taking into consideration the efforts of the predecessors and making adjustments as demanded by prevailing realities? While,we have a large pool of focused and sincere youths like most of the fellas who sustained this thread with their impeccable ideas,Nigerian ruling class is unfortunately pedestrian and not driven by nobility, rather primitive accumulation of capital! If not,why is it that any time there is a regime change(Sullivan to Gburugburu for instance),we all will gasp for breath in apprehension, hoping that the incoming regime will sustain the good programmes of their predecessors? You already know why! Well,i believe in Nigeria if it will be restructured. I also believe in Biafra because we will be forced to fix ourselves at least to avert the shameful sneers of our enemies who will wish otherwise. Keep enlightening us sir! I admire your analysis.

I don't think Abapka and Emene are part of Enugu. They are in the same category with Nsukka urban, Agbani urban, Udi urban etc

I suggested this before, and I think it's a system in US, where certain projects goes on independent of who is government. The leader at every point in time just have to follow the blueprints of such selected projects. For instance, road projects in entire Enugu state can be planned with blueprint available for say the next 20-50years. Governors within this period just have to carry out the road projects as planned, and the fund for the projects are deducted monthly just as the state is getting its revenues. Each completed rural/local goverment road is handed over to the local govt for maintainance. And every local government in Enugu is empowered financially and with equipment to maintain the roads. This same model can be replicated in certain aspects other ministries. That way, local governments are made more responsible in providing basic amenities, and attention paid to details, rather than having all the work on the governor. With this, the Governor takes a supervisory position on certain small projects and concentrate more on policies, and big projects or advanced amenities for the state. Also with this model, state revenues and rural development are evenly distributed especially based on economic power or potential of towns, with zero tolerance for clannishness.
Enugu east LGA contributes to the geographical area called Enugu town in form of Emene, Abakpa and parts of trans-ekulu(if not all of it). Politically the LGA has two representatives in the house of assembly representing enugu east urban and Enugu east rural. So the enugu East urban is actually part of Enugu town.
I guess most people use the fact that many of those residing in these places are middle class or poor citizens to rule it out as part of Enugu town or probably because recent Governments decided to overlook the area while it's amenities rot.
Other LGAs that contribute to Enugu town include Enugu North and Enugu south.

CONTRIBUTE? LOL...These two L.G.A(Enugu North and South) are the original parts of Enugu Town. Emene and Abakpa Nike remains Enugu Suburbs. Even in the news, they often say ''Emene, near Enugu...or...located in the outskirt of Enugu'' But with developments of these suburbs, people started to tag the developed part of them as part of Enugu town especially part of Trans Ekulu...With time Edem Nike, Ibagwa Nike, Ugwuomu and the whole of Awkunanaw, even Ninth mile Corner will become debatable parts of Enugu town for good.

From what you just typed you are trying to tell us trans-ekulu, the whole Abakpa junction area (barracks and orthopaedic area), tinkers corner, airport road and its environs are not part of Enugu town. Unless you personally carved them out of Enugu east. Mind you the federal housing estate and state housing estate(actually in abakpa) are in this same enugu east. Also help explain why the house of assembly has a representative for the urban and another for the rural.

I am very sorry to say this. I love Nsukka people but they are clannish to a fault. I have always wished Adada State was created so they can go and develop their state. Did we not witness the whole Enugu without exception, conceding governorship seat to Nsukka zone? Nsukka people would never have extended such gesture to Udi or Nkanu zone. Take analysis of past elections, they have always wanted to snatch power by all mean. The people who are here moaning over the building of road at Emene, have forgotten that while the whole Nkanuland was in darkness, Jim Nwobodo gave electricity to Nsukka.

I hate to tow this line, but I wish all those coming here to lament about Nsukka as if anyone is opposed to the development of their zone should simply carry their misery and go to another forum. Did anyone remember that I made a similar comment many months ago about my view on Nsukka. This is who they are. I am sorry I am generalizing, but that's who they are. Don't forget 90% of friend are from that area but they are disgustingly clannish. I know this will hurt some people but I have to say it.

This post is most disappointing!
You made a similar post a few months ago, and everyone simply ignored it. Your insistence on this line of reasoning can't but colour my opinion of you.

I hope in the future we get past this pettiness and narrow-mindedness.

Lamenting about people who get almost all the appointment in since the inception of democracy in Enugu (Nkanu, Nsukka, Udi/Ezeagu), we the people of Greater Awgu have no stake in Enugu at the moment, the development we are witnessing is because of the dodgedness and the goodwill of Ekweremadu in the senate. By 2023 we shall take the mantle of leadership of the state. Ndi Awgu ha biara uwa nke ha ozo. Eme nwata ka emere ibe ya, obi adi ya nma.

I completely agree with you.

Less than 20% of the population of Enugu State reside in Enugu city. By sheer numbers, that's a 4:1 victory for rural areas.

Moreso, we've taken a detour from the 90's model of development. Rural-Urban migration was such a big deal it was taught in schools. Rural dwellers were being encouraged to remain in rural areas, and concerted efforts made to keep them comfortable: rural electrification, potable water, health care infrastructure etc. Somewhere along the line, we adopted a strange, untested model of development : everyone ran off to big cities forever in search of the elusive golden fleece. Government neglect of the rural areas further entrenched this newfound model.

The model being advocated by biafrandream can only work in Lagos because it already is a conurbation of sorts, but not in Enugu with a large population in rural areas. I know what a relief the Nike-Opi Highway has turned out to be. And the offshoot from Ugwuogo-Nike to Isi Uzo has been another blessing to people of the area.

ENSG needs to replicate Udi in all the other 16 LGAs. The Udi model of rural development is where I stand.
chimaroke and sullivan wasted money on rural agbani and udi respectively nobody talked about clannishness, nw d more urbanised nsukka is requesting for much deserved attention and i can see ppl talking trash, same trash they talked wen nsukka demanded dat its dia turn to produce d govnor. They now equate nsukka to abakpa and emene, Lol. I can see they dnt want d peaceful political atmosphere we enjoy in enugu to last. Enugu state is made up of two old provinces which has now bn reshaped into 3 zones, any attempt to make one zone equal to a subgroup in another zone is an invitation for trouble.

As long as Nsukka remains under Enugu, it is a suburb, just like Gwagwalada in Abuja, orlu in Imo, Agbani in Enugu, Zaria in kaduna.
Attention can be given to Nsukka to create another big city in Enugu State, but not to say it's at the same level with Enugu.

From my analysis you will understand that other suburbs in Enugu should also be give such attention so that development is evenly distributed. If our leaders can be sincere we can have many well planned suburbs in Enugu state, where people can live comfortably. It's just about our 'African/Nigeria' mentality. There's no blueprint for development in most Nigerian states. If there is, successive governors would follow it, so that no town is given attention at the expense of others, just because the governor is from such town.

For instance, instead of the monorail in Enugu, such money can channelled into building rail from the three major zones of Enugu(Nkanu, Nsukka, Udi) into Enugu city, with at least one or two big facilities in each of the zones, facilities like tourist facility in Udi, farms in Nsukka and Nkanu. Notice what Donald Duke of Cross River State did, where is the cattle ranch located, this is how projects should be evenly distributed. Has people stopped going to obudu because it's not in calabar.

But like I said earlier, We don't have stable plan for future, a continuous project backed up under state law. Most time our Governors want projects they can start and finish with their tenure just for the sake of getting the credit. But then, they end up in petty projects with limited future benefit. We can never have big project in Enugu until we have law that ensures continuity, and also ensure that certain projects goes on independent of who becomes a governor, even if such person came from an entirely new party, like in the next Enugu Governorship election an APC candidate wins.

Check my post again. I wrote Nsukka Urban. There's Nsukka as a town, Nsukka as a zone in Enugu state, Nsukka as a senatorial zone. You seem to be mixing them up.

The yellow part is Nsukka, Isi-uzo tend to see themselves as Nsukka than being part of Nkanu

On Chimaroke and Chime, were they really waste. You may say they were unfair, clannish, but I doubt tagging them waste.

It doesn't matter where the clamor comes from, unity is strength, I know many people here are interested in having an Adada State that is why they are always cold when Anioma is mentioned because they think it will rob them of the opportunity to have the non viable of a state.

Unification is the most important thing in Igboland, go to Igboville and see how Benue-Igbos are reaching out for their kiths n kins in SE, those in Anioma also doing that as well.

I don't know why it should be wrong for us in SE to extent the hand when we know fully well that integration is the movement now.
Balkanizing them from SE is not of their doing, its the politics of divide and rule and we Igbos shouldn't fold our hands and watch that happen.
Every pragmatic Igbo man and woman should drop personal interest for collective interest of building strong Igbo nation that defy geo-political boundaries.

That is the ignorance am telling you about, even in Anambra State Onitsha and Ogbaru people still call us "nwa Onye Igbo" does it mean they are not Igbos. wink wink wink wink

Christ came to save human being from perishing but humans organized and killed him, Malcolm X was fighting for blacks emancipation but it was the same black people that murdered him, Clarence 13 also.

Do not expect everybody to be on the same page with you when arguments like that come up, its you that know more than them that will teach and orientate them over the need to see beyond state boundaries and reason in retrospect

If they are not proud being Igbos, why did they fight Ekwumekwu War, why did they fight Biafra War, why are they in Ohaneze and Aka Ikenga??......my brother those you see online and in beer palour are nobody and their voices count not.

Do you know that recently there was unification of Anambra and Anioma traditional rulers under one umbrella, when the notable once are pushing seriously for their interests, is it the efulefus that will discourage you.

Bet me in no distance time some South East Igbos born in Lagos will stop seeing themselves as Igbos because their parents ignorantly rob them of their Igbo identities, some Igbos are now organizing traditional marriage outside Igboland, in 20 years coming they will be calling you "Ibos".

Do not let the ignorant beat you in the game knowledge but respect the state of their mind and strive to reset it.

I grew up in Onitsha and Iyiowa, most the guys that say nwa onye Igbo are those guys that normally come to collect ego ani and ego youths (omonile version)

Even in Anambra State it is there, Aniomas are not the only ones saying it

I am from Ika area of Delta state and i do understand the point being made. Although my family and I are irrevocably Igbo, it is a fact that many of my people have other preferences to identify themselves. Sometime due to the political expediency of the zone we belong rather than what we know as the undiluted truth. Therefore the cry of "i am not Igbo" is bound to arise if the SE "demands" for Anioma inclusion into the zone. Those in the western part of our land will strongly encourage the anti-Igbo rhetorics, while those on the eastern border will embrace Igbo. The result will be a fracture of the Anioma people. Therefore, It is indeed better for our Obis to debate the issue and decide on it amicably.

Thanks bro, come to Anambra State, the way Odekpe and Onitsha treat you if you want to erect new building is enough for you to accept they are not Igbos. Odekpe people learnt it from Onitsha and are now doing more than them.

During the Cartoon Riot of 2006, the entire Igala people in Ogbaru were housed and protected in the palace of then Okakwu of Odekpe Igwe FCB Isamade when the riot was intensive and escalating , they said Odekpe originated from Igala bla bla, they even started threatening people who were going from street to streets looking for Northerners to kill that they should not try touch any Igala person.

Ok now fast forward 2006 to 2015 is it not the same Igala people that are killing Anambras people because of Oil wells found in Aguleri, is it not the same Igala that are setting houses on fire at Uzo Uwani because they are protesting of not being in Kogi with their kith n kins..

Igboman wake up.... Igboman be sober.... Igboman increase the consciousness.... Ignorance is a bliss.

Its pure Ignorance and nothing more,

Those denying their igboness dont really understand what IGBO means. Igbo to me is a just Collective term for languages with plenty of similar words and structures. Just as bird is a collective term for animals with similar features such as, feather, beaks, etc.( a chicken cannot just wake
up one day and choose not to be called a bird while still retaining it beak and feathers)

Such similar languages may have evolve from thesame place or ancenstors.

up one day and choose not to be called a bird while still retaining it beak and feathers)

Such similar languages may have evolve from thesame place or ancenstors.

Thank you, this is why am saying its ignorance, its not illiteracy or poverty but ignorance.
An illiterate is better than ignorant person because via traveling an illiterate could be educated.

If you any anioma or Rivers igbo claiming am not Igbo but Delta or we are not Ibos but Rivers, just award him this certificate below because he or she deserve it.

i'm jst laffing at dis analysis. Nsukka is same wit emene, abakpa and udi? Clannishness my foot! Hw cn compare a city suburb to to a zone? An old colonial province and a proposed state capital?

U laugh at centje's analysis, but for Nsukka to have a deserved face-lift and get a setting of a modern urban city like Enugu - depends on who is governor of Enugu state.

If the governor from Nsukka zone has similar mentality with the last governor of Abia state or the present governor of Imo state, Nsulka may remain rural. Aba lost out in government infrastructure in the last 16 years because it is not the state capital of Abia.

The present governor of Imo state is from Orlu area, but Orlu even lost much of the modern infrastructure it had before the present governor emerged.Orlu's modern stadium and business premises were bulldozed by present government without replacement. All the governor did was dualize a few roads that may pack up anytime, and called it development- no single development project to the area. His preoccupation is with expanding the capital city where he has his businesses.

So pray that Enugu governor of today is not the type that believes that modern development in a state is meant only for the capital city.

This is Obollo Afor, near Nsukka. This is the kind of road you find in Obollo afor, Orba and parts of Nsukkb.

Oga, I disagree with this picture as the face of Obollo afor, why not be objective and show the roads Sullivan just completed from Ikem, through Obollo Eke to Obollo afor till joining Makurdi express? Is it not a new road?
