I am not in support of a soft landing for the boko guys.. Just to be clear on dat. But the method used in negotiating is very important.
But the governmment employed the service of an expert, what went wrong?

You hv been deceived by America Movies.

America Negotiate with Terrorist all d time. America is hippocrite. America usually Negotiate through Saudi Arabia, Qatar and other ally in the Middle east.

Just last year America swop prisoners with Taliban through Qater as the negotiator.

Currently America is considering allowing families of Victims to negotiate ransome with terrorist as Family members of victims.

Bruv, america won't come out to tell you openly they re negotiating with isis, but in the real sense they are doing it. Nigeria has to get the methodology right and errm Nigeria will remain ONE.
I've always wondered why there hasn't been a terrorist attack on US soil since 2013's Boston bomber and even then attacks are sparse. America opens up its heavily sought citizenship to every country but one is supposed to remain naive and believe that once a potential operative slips into the country they suddenly lose interest in their terroristic rage against the US or you know something else is at work. America continues to hammer ISIS and what's left of al qaeda and yet I'm suppose to believe that these sophisticated terrorist groups can't get one potential suicide bomber past the daftness that is American airport security?? Who's to say that they're not already here? Radicals continue to test the waters with these draw Mohammad contests across the U.S. attempting to anger Muslims and nothing major happens. Then there's the Isis videos that don't make any sense.. All that's really left is speculation including now how Boko Haram and Buhari factors into this equation.

Oh well, obviously the "expert" didn't turn out to be an expert. America can go to the extent of using another country as a negotiator... I still maintain the fact that the methods used in negotiating is very important.

You reason well my Dear, FYI you should know that Boko Harem is not just the one group manufactured in Langley Virgina. They have created a Frankenstein that had offsprings and now it is out of control. Buhari was just to remove GEJ that was threatening oil companies that he would implement major revisions to the contracts that ended this year. It's all about the greed of the west at the expense of black lives.

Foolish govt that dnt know they dnt ever take negotiation, lets see how it goes, the thing is these people wants full and absolute Sharia superior than your booklet constitution, since you won't agree with that, they too will not negotiate with you,the worst that can happen to Nigeria is muuslims and christians will devideand live separately, trust me,if this govt is looking for negotiation, hmmm, they are on a longthing.

in which civilised world? Can you name just two of such civilised world that negotiated with a sect As deadly as boko haram? Oh....I get it...b'cos it has come to your brothers and b'cos you know they helped your other brother into power that's why you are indirectly seeking for amnesty on their behalf. Well, Nigerians are watching....we can't wait for Buhari to use a long rope to tie his neck.

Mr man stop messing up abeg...the western countries do so..but they do not do it directly
Let's set something straight. Western nations don't negotiate with terrorists to stop terrorism. They negotiate to have captives released, or worse still, they carry out covert operations to see these captives freed. It happened recently where the American Army said all plans were concluded for forces to rescue one of the Americans recently killed by ISIS after negotiations between the man's family and ISIS for his release broke down. However when forces got to the location the intelligence reports said he was being held, he had been moved to another location and executed.

On the subject of Iran, there are negotiations based on Iran's weapons of nuclear warfare and not terrorism. Iran is negotiating because their economy is crumbling from sanctions imposed on them in 2006 when they went against the laws to build excessive nuclear weapons. And they aren't carrying out negotiations through a third party, but rather kind of meeting each other halfway(I.e the USA and Iran) and that neutral location is Switzerland.

Let's stop this confusion please. Nowhere have I heard that a western government either overtly or covertly negotiates with terrorists to drop their arms.

Like I said you are talking nÓnsense with due respect. Iran is not listed as Foreign Terrorists Organisation (FTO) which all terrorists group falls into. There is a big difference between negotiating for release of captives and negotiating with terrorists to end terrorism.

Israel for instance has always labelled Hamas as terrorists and vowed never to negotiate with them over the status of Palestine. But it doesn't stop them (israel) from negotiating prisoner swap with Hamas. Stop confusing yourself "elder"
If you carefully read the interview you will notice the priority of d govt is the deployment of multinational forces by diz month end, wich according to the report will curtail BH activity...The response to negotiation wz juz a by d way answer Adesina granted....Why many of us pushed aside d main content of d interview n focus on d pheripheral still baffles me.
.
.
Yea...I agree wit you on d stance of not negotiating wit terrorist. The idea was first initiated by a US state department of intellegence personel ; reasons being dat it wil become a viscious circle dat terrorist will take advantage of....quite true anyway.
.
.
But come to tink of it, we ar fightin domestic terrorism wit an ideological motivation not international terror. Nigeria dont hav d military might of Israël or US to stand and insist on a non negotiable mantra. Insisting on a fire 4 fire approach wil only get us mor n mor bloodshed of both innocent life n depletion of of our military.
.
.
Yea BH hav killed many souls, but hav d past govt military approach stopped d killings? Negotiation doesnt necessarily means Amnesty, Ma suggestion is hear BH demands once again; if they hav shifted ground( as they did wit their second demand)...If they stil insist on d initial demand, then nigerians will knw the FG is all out to face them militarily using evry of our arsenals....

Like seriously... Alas the plan is coming to fruition... Another Avenue to loot the treasury....
They want an Islamic State in the north east from where they will spread to the rest of the country. Since we want to negotiate frim our presently weak position let us prepare to grant them that wish. . plus some oil wells and other things they may ask. The blood shed has to stop.
