kindnyce:it's a very very smelly business. Especially when gathering the solidified bits from the small tapping cups. 99% of people on this forum won't do it. Granddad's expansive rubber plantations have since been turned into farmland. Because there was a lull in demand for a period due to synthetic plastic. As an anecdote, the wars Britain fought in Southern 9ja in the 1890s, gaining control over rubber trade was a big factor. To supply budding automobile and other industries in Europe then. Including war against Benin Kingdom. |

Am shocked at some comments asking why this topic. Nigeria was founded on agriculture but we abandoned it for the new bride called oil, now the bride is about to pack up with slump in oil prices our economy is in shambles cuz we are a mono-economy nation which is the most dumb thing to do. May God help PMB to raise and push formidable policies to make agric buoyant again, cocoa form the west, cotton and groundnut from the north and palm oil from the east. God bless Nigeria, God bless PMB |

fctguy:it is normally tapped in d early hours of d day I.e as early as 5-6am as the latext flows more due to d weather, normally d container used for tapping must b painted black to avoid lost of heat and water evaporating from d latext,Amonia(surfactant)is usually added during tapping to avoid coagulation after which d latext is now coagulated and processed into pale creep, ribbed smoked sheet(RSS) or crumped rubber which are used in d production of. Varios item such as condom(latext) tyre(crumped rubber or RSS depending on d grade),elastic bands, eraser, water hose etc. |
