REVEALED: Buhari’s CSO was “sacked” for Opposing Removal of DSS officials from Aso Rock by ADC

The cold war between Mani Abdulrahman, Chief Security officer to the President and Lt-Col Muhammed Lawal Abubakar Aide De camp to the President. Climaxed yesterday with the transfer of the CSO to Ebonyi state. Mani who is an official of the Department of State Service (DSS a.k.a the Nigerian Secret Police) was head of Buhari personal security even before the General elections that was held in April 2015.

His unceremonious removal yesterday by the New Director General of the DSS, was received with mixed reactions. Contrary to reports on different media on alleged disclosure of his boss itinerary to a former minister as the "chief" reason for Mani's removal, information available to FCT Post indicate that the main reason for his removal was due to inter-agency rivalry in the villa on whom to take over the Body Guard Unit.

Like in most Nations, the Nigerian Secret Police apart from is statutory duties as the nations primary domestic intelligence agency, ais also charged with the protection of the President, Vice President, Senate President, Speaker of the House of Representatives, State Governors, their immediate families, other high ranking government officials, past Presidents, their spouses, certain candidates for the offices of President and Vice President, and visiting foreign heads of state and government.

This move irked the CSO, who insisted that according to practice, close body protection of the president is the duty of the DSS and asked his men to remain in their duty post hence starting a cold war, which climaxed yesterday with his removal.

With his removal, it is unclear if the President's bodyguard will be replaced with men of the Nigerian Army Intelligence Corps. President Muhammadu Buhari was a former Military Head of State from 1983 to 1985. The DSS is one of the three branches formed from the notorious defunct NSO. It is a department in the Presidency and under the control of the National Security Adviser (NSA).
