I thought VAT is a form of consumption tax, why charge it separately? Can anyone explain what is on this receipt? Someone showed me and an accountant said its like a double tax. 1 Like 1 Share

It has to be shown separately. So that you will know the cost and then the vat on the item. More for accountability. |

honeric01:Oh I get you now. The other 5% is a Lagos consumption tax. It's on services like hotels and eateries. They are both consumption tax but Vat is for federal while consumption tax or service tax is for Lagos state. |
