@whitefriars I actually thought I was giving you brotherly advice. Seems you spurned it. Sorry I commented on your case. As I felt the obligation to clear your rather glaring misconception. Next time I'll be more careful whom I try to give useful info here. Not every one appreciates it. Enjoy. |

bbdd:No wahala I have heard you. But even as it is 111 is still in the list of the best Engineering schools. And if you read my comment well I said I heard ddnt say i confirmed or that it has been established it is, its just like a hypothesis and a theory, they are 2 diff things. Next time advise in a pleasant way, we all come here as novices and expect people to help not make you feel bad about your options. Have a nice day and am not a Bros. |

DARKLIGHT:Apologies for the late post guys, got caught up in other matters. Had my interview last Wednesday in Lagos. Here it goes. Got to the embassy at about 5.45 a.m (maybe too early, 6.00 a.m would have been equally fine) Luckily I found my way to the top of queue for the 6.30 batch (was about number 4 out of 40 people in the room) Waited for about 30 mins. Interviews began at about 6.45 a.m. VO: Good Morning...XXXXX(in a not so very polite way)....didn't hear the rest cos the mic wasn't clearly set yet. Me: Good Morning Madam VO: What are you going to do in the US? Me: I am going to pursue an MBA degree at **** University. VO: How long is this programme Me: 21 Months VO: Goes on typing some stuff...... VO: What have you been doing since graduation? Me: Working for a Nigerian Bank, in **** role VO: What do you plan to do after school? Me: Recited some nice answer I had formatted pre-interview VO: Takes a long look into her PC....... VO: Did you take any standardized test? Me: Yes, I took the GMAT VO: What did you score..Can I see your test scores Me: Showed it to her VO: How are you funding your MBA? Me: A combination of my personal savings, loan i got from a private company in the UK, and support from my family. VO: How did you hear of this loan company? Me: Its affiliated to the University I will be attending and specifically designed for international students. VO: Why do you think this is the right time for an MBA? Me: To aid my managerial skills and sharpen my business acumen, which I think will be key for achieving success with my LT career objective. VO: Ok. Your visa has been approved. Me: Thanks and Have a nice day. VO: Have a nice day too 5 top lessons for prospective applicants. 1. Learn as much as you can from other people's experiences. Nairaland was extremely helpful in this regard. 2. Pre-interview, scribble down potential interview questions and formulate intelligent answers that are not leading. 3. Keep these answers as short as possible. 4. Be confident. Your confident is enhanced when you are sure all potential pitfalls have been covered. 5. Exercise your faith in God (or whoever you worship). Have a great day fam and I wish future applicants all the best with their interviews. |

Good day house..... This is benjamin, remember I was denied Visa twice to study pharmacy and I was told by Gurus in the house here to apply for masters since am a graduate or get scholarships to study pharmacy, that it is difficult to convince visa officers how I will pay for my fees considering US citizens studying pharmacy piles up debts everywhere. If you remember my previous interview was denied due to funding because during the interview the V0 was satisfied with me but as soon as he saw my bank statement he denied me visa . My school fees is 6 million and my previous bank statement is 8 million. Now am planning to go for the 3rd time But my sponsor just brought a recent statement which is 11 million and pharmacy requires pre pharmacy before pharmacy school, which means I will be staying a total of 6 years. My question is this since my sponsor could not tender sufficient bank statement, maybe around 30 to cover my tuition. Should I just forget about going for a third time because I have been denied twice and I was denied just last month. Since am a graduate of chemistry,is it better I apply for masters in chemistry. I don't want to waste money paying visa fees and traveling and get denied. I believe in God but a times we have to be realistic and learn from failures. Please I need advice GURUS in the house. |

benjaminiyke:Relax and apply for Msc Chemistry, you need funding for this course cos there is no summer break for you to hustle as you'll ways be in the lab. It's good you package yourself and shoot for MSc Chemistry. Apply to minimum of 3 schools that you at least have a 60/70% chance of funding. Save that visa fee for applications. |

congrats to mbenox oyeg and orch. let every spirit of visa denial be cast away ONLY for sincere students. All those that are also masking as students but potential immigrants and all those that are seeking to get visa/admission without writing ANY standardized test please have a rethink cos VOs are monitoring the thread. Goodluck peeps. |
