misspicy:
This happened just now at Olorunsogo Opposite Cottage Hospital Ilorin Kwara State.
A motorist was driving in front of this set of VIOs and they were driving at top speed in pursuit of another motorist who was trying to avoid arrest.Apparently the motorist in front of this VIO was oblivious of what was going on and he did not swerve for the VIOs like other vehicles did seeing the speed at which they were driving. This VIOs overtook the motorist and blocked his way abrutely almost causing an accident.
They asked the driver to come down and started harrasing him, snapping his car and threatening him.
People gathered to appease them but it they refuse to listen.
Please push this to FP asap,we need people to see the injustice some VIOs are carrying out in the name of carrying out their duty.
Vehicle inspection officers...not insurance

These are no VIO personnel these are FRSC officers. Beside VIO isn't Vehicle Insurance officers they are vehicle inspection officers. It is wrong for them to chase vehicles in the manner in which you described.
I hope their "Ogas at the top" are reading this.

vio should be scraps for abuse of power and human rights
Re: Misuse Of Power By Some Vehicle Insurance Officers. by Nobody: 9:16pm On Jul 06, 2015
VIO should be scrapped, their abuse of power is legendary .
The ones in warri EFFURUN branch are armed robbers in uniforms.
They go beyond thier duties of "making sure vehicles are road worthy"
They ask to see everything including drivers license and impose a fine , which you pay to them privately with no receipt
Thier office off airport warri is always flooded with unsuspecting citizens (don't know thier rights)arrested for one non-existent of fence or the other,

These FRSC guys need to be re-educated. The other day I saw something I really couldn't believe along Lokoja-abuja expressway. An FRSC unit actually drove a hilux right into my speeding vehicle just to make me stop! I came down, gave them the warning of their lives and told them to note my vehicle number and never ever repeat such dangerous play with me again!

Nigerians will never cease to amaze me. We always form over-sabi when we know next to nothing . In the US when you see an emergency car coming, the law requires you move to the side of the road !!! You are all here ranting over wrong thing !

And OP...really? Vehicle Insurance Officershuh?? You know how to do selfie, ping and gossip online but you can't distinguish between Vehicle Inspection Officers and Federal Road Safety Corp officers. Ignorance is bliss !
true talk... Even in some places in the States, when a school bus stops to pick up school kids, you must stop and wait behind it until it is done picking up kids.

I think u need to go back to school or try and sit down and learn d uniform men in Nigeria and their names. I'm not sure this can happen in Ilorin. u can neva see VIO'S Vehicle driving at a high speed in town. beside, this is a picture of FRSC at d olorunsogo u said. Abi VIO don dey use anoda uniform.
Mr. misscy or wot is ur name, u need u b more oriented. I believe if u re embarrassed by any uniform men, u shd take up ur case
After u paste ds picture on Facebook and u say its VIO, u will b ashamed off urself cos u don't even know wot u re saying

There is this useless one I knew as a driver at the state secretariat in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Whenever I met him on the road and see the way he treats illiterate drivers like himself, nothing come to my mind than scrapping the outfit.

Op you dont know the deference between VIO and road safety
Re: Misuse Of Power By Some Vehicle Insurance Officers. by ckmayoca: 2:24pm On Jul 07, 2015
The motorist did wrong for blocking thier ways and they shldnt block the flow of traffic just cos they wanna deal with one person.

Thank you bro, we celebrate lawlessness in Nigeria. Everything to them is injustice !!!! Try 0.0001 percent of what you do in Nigeria ...in US, if your behinds are not hauled in jail, you will spend the rest of your life paying ticket fines.

Let me list a little of those things we take for granted in Nigeria
In US you -

You can't be changing lanes as you want
You can't honk horn anywhere you like ..outlawed in some city sef
Walk on the highway or cross
Can't do a right turn in front of public bus
Wait for school buses when the stop sign is up
Move to side of road when any emergency vehicle is coming
No free parking in most places, even the street in front of your house needs park permit
You can't leave your car without a plate number or expired plates
Stop at every stop sign
You must be at turn-only lane if you are making a turn
Speed limits are strictly monitored especially on streets
Operate vehicles with broken lights or cracked windscreen
Pass emission test every two years for some states

These are just few rules , please help me add to it.

We enjoy so much in Nigeria.
