You just want to waste your few dollars... Try and arrange apartment with school or outside school, when making use of craigslist or other site just let them know that you pay upon arrival since you coming for the first time as a student
So what happens wen he gets there and don't like d apartment, will he not get stranded?

Impossible is nothing. It depends on how intelligent one is. A friend did his in a month and scored 321 or so.

@ benjaminiyke,

I would first of all evaluate my GPA to a 4.00 scale. The chances of getting admission into a Chemistry, MS program in the US becomes almost zero if it is lower than 2.50/4.00. Also do not be deceived you need to consider the tier 2 schools most notably the California state university system. Like others rightly said a number of factors is considered, but you also need to show that you can do research since your degree would be researched based. Talk about your final year project and other lab experience you have. That is a huge pointer to being successful in graduate school. Do not waste your money by applying to Tier 1 universities like LSU, ASU, OSU et al
thanks for the advice.

Ur GPA is not bad, Ace ur TOEfl n GRE, then u can apply to like 5 schools, just choose a good school n pick average schools to low schools to ensure u get admission. I think ur Gre score will better determine d kind of schools u should apply 2
okay..That means GRE and TOEF will be the first thing I will prepare for before applying to any school?

Hello my Good brothers....having decided to go for masters now. I will love to know the first step in the process. Do I have to apply to schools, send my transcript/ degree certificate,SOP, recommendation letters and research works before I write GRE and TOEF. Or writing GRE and TOEF should be the first step in the process. Thanks @slimmy,mbennox,nwanze,deetus,profjah infact all the GURUs here.

I would be cautious with such recommendations cos level of intelligence, familiarity with the subject matter and learning capacities vary widely with individuals. A score of 321 (thats about 75th percentile) with a month of preparation simply means that your friend is indeed extremely intelligent and has some unstated advantages - strong background in maths & verbal as well as good testing skills. My point is before making such recommendations, be mindful that all fingers are not equal then give realistic estimates. If the individual is a quick learner, fine, the estimate would hold. However, if the individual requires a bit more time to learn the material, you estimate would also account for that. I don't know about you, but i usually recommend at LEAST two months of intensive study. This is not a declaration just an estimate based on observation and multiple experiences from multiple sources. One can do well with less or more time. It all depends on the individuals learning capacity. grin
