Niger Delta is a geographic expression, not an identity. I'm from the Niger Delta. You allege to be from Imo State, your from the Niger Delta.
The issue this causes is whenever "niger delta" tries to take a "Stand" they begin infighting because they have nothing to do with each other. For example even when Ijaw led MEND was fighting for "Niger Delta", militants from Ijaw and Uhrobo were going to war in Warri if you don't remember.

Imo Abia and technically Anambra are in the Niger Delta. So if someone asks you "Where are you from" and you said "Niger Delta" what did you just tell them? Nothing. They'll them ask you "Where in Niger Delta" and you can say something stupid like Delta, then they'll ask where again and you'll say something reasonable after coercion.


Like with the Biafra movement. How can you say that someone is "south south" If they're "Delta" Igbo and thus not 'as igbo' or 'igbo' because they're not from the SE when Ngozi Okonjo Iweala and Nzeogwu are from "The South South" and Aguiyi Ironsi is from "Niger Delta".
