Good day house.
My initial application for a MS program was for Spring 2015 but was denied visa. I deferred my admission till Fall 2015 and I was granted visa. However, at the mmt, arrangement never set well and I want to know if it is safe n advisable to request another deferment from the school till Spring 2016 while I stay bk in Nigeria OR I make the trip to the US ( I have funds for that), appear in person at the school then ask for deferment till the next semester. Please I need to know the risks involved, I await your helpful responses.
Thanks

You can defer but you need to contact your school admission officer or coordinator and tell them why you want to defer if possible, A new update I-20 will be mail to you and that's what you will use to enter Obamland.

Houston poe is kind of hard but again if you have done nothing wrong it's gonna be safe passage

Brother, I sent you a PM.

My stop is also in Houston. In addition to the concern Efizzy 22 raised, will carrying other documents apart from the ones required by the CBP at POE create problems?

10 kids!!! Lol. Your papa be like my papa - action man. Just be "born-ing" left right center. Chai. cheesy

Anyways, this is a tricky one but its always advisable you tell the truth. I doubt any V.O would give you a denial because of the number of siblings that you have. I think what really matters is how well you present your case coupled with the weight of your Sponsor's (in this case your Dad) account and a lot of God's grace.

How would the V.O find out?: Previously, from your DS-160. But lately, i noticed the DS-160 no longer requests for number of siblings. Only for number of siblings who live in the US. But note that V.O's are trained psychologist. While they may not be mind readers, the way you respond to their questions may indicate if your telling the truth or not.

Lastly, telling a lie might have unforeseen repercussions for your siblings in the future. Let's assume you get the visa, which you will by the grace of God. What happens when one of siblings apply for a visa? How can he/she escape the section of the DS-160 that says "do you have any sibling, or immediate relative" currently in the U.S?

for ur last reason i will go with ur idea..thanks boss

Visa approved today at Abuja embassy 7:30am. Pls, transcript will come up later today. Thanks everyone, u guys ROCK!!
sorry for time wasting, was busy at work. Visa approved today 7:30. I arrived 6:40am and waited for them to call us in. Got tired standing and decided to sit somewhere far, then they called us in sad. I lost my position as I was now about the 40th person on the line.

Did the usual checks and then the biometrics and was ushered to the hot seat grin. I think the Vos at 8 and 9 were a little more lenient, 5 and 6 were strict but I still got 5. The interview was thus:

Vo: Good morning

Me: Good morning m'aam (didn't remember the "how are you doing I was supposed to ask"wink

Vo: Checked my i20 and typed for about 30 secs... What masters are you going for?

Me: For my masters in Public health ( wanted to say d name of the school, on a second thought, I asked myself " who send u?"

VO: What will Public Health do for you?

Me: Public health is in line with my previous degree in medicine and surgery and my current job in Bleep NGO. Public health professionals are needed in Nigeria because off the sociopolitical and environmental health issues here. We would be in charge of the future of the Nigerian health sector.

Vo: Who is sponsoring u?

Me: My Dad

Vo: What does he do?

Me: He owns a company, and he's contracted to some state govt( I named them).

Vo: Your visa has been approved bla bla bla

Personal tips:

I had about 36 formulated questions which I gathered and was rehearsing d questions for about 3 days of which all came out though not in the same sequence lol.

Pray. I had to though am not a prayer warrior. I always spoke these words Bishop Abioye says "cover my mistake and color my destiny"

Be confident! Mind u as a student u have a higher chance from my experience. They rarely approved b1/b2 except clergy or old chiefs or so...

Big thanks to all them gurus out here. Though I wrote a few times, it cant be compared to wat I learnt... @bigfrancis, stewee, zee, mystique, slimmy, darklight, Amanze, walspring, deetus, ojap, bbdd, dbluv, prof, infact, we too plenty here. I hope I get to know a few in person. My PM de act up abi na me wey no sabi d thin lol @bbdd

Thanks for your response. So all i have to do is use the reschedule appointment link, right?
I also noticed that i didn't encounter anything like "Sign Application". Is this normal? I thought they said you fill work experience in the DS-160 form too. I no see anything like that for my own oo...Guys, please, am I missing things?

Yup, reschedule it is. And nope, you don't "Sign" Visa bookings - Only the Ds-160.

Ds-160 Work Experience: This one is mandatory o! Please recheck your Ds-160 profile. Its the tenth link. Its titled "Work/Education/Training". I hope you have not submitted the DS-160 yet?

CEO...Nobody was born with a dull brain, its left to individual to work on his/her intellectuality..Like my lecturer do say " There is no excuse for failure"..The poorest(also an orphan) won the best brain of a whole faculty in Unilag...Tho I understand some situations beyond one's control can contribute negavitely on one's academic performance but that shouldn't be an excuse...For there were so many peeps at the outdoor who were in a more difficult situation than yours and they finished very well...

Back to your question: Do you have a sponsor? Cos studying in USA is quite expensive....Try to check on Google the schools that offers your intended course of study and accept a very low grades. Gurus can help you out on suggestions...Send an email to the grad cordinator if they do accept that grade(very important)...If they do,.Pay the application fee from $30 upward, send your transcript, your recommendation letters, personal essay, standardized test etc..Some schools may request for transcript evaluation from any naces evaluator,(but 2.74 will be extremely low after evaluation).. Pray extremely hard,..Pls don't go through any agent, you can do all this yourself...
I wish you all the best bro
. can u help me please
