I bought my 2003 sport for N1.3m in PHC, seems the price is going down now. The beautiful thing is that the car has a good second hand value. A friend is even pricing mine for N1m though I have no plans of selling, will still rock it for the next 4 years.

it's true that dollar is going up, but Nigerians don't even have the money to spent. Increasing the price makes no difference as the ride will remain in the stand for months.

Point well taken. But how does that change the landing cost? Auction/Seller will collect their money. Truckers will collect their money. Shipping company as well. Nigeria customs will not give you a waiver because country in tight

can't really say how this thing work but my research has shown that the price have not gone up. Should I say that dealers are still selling old stock. A friend of mine just bought a clean one (2003) in PHC for N1.25m. Got it from the same guy that sold to me.
My brother the economy is rough o, school fees, house rent, medical. Price of oil not helping matters, fewer people are ready to spend so much money on cars.

my brother, my suspicious also is that some of our dealers are involved in shady deal with custom agents. We have been handling cases involving the acclaimed biggest online car dealer who is an expert in forging custom papers. Moderators will ban me if I mention the name.
A friend also bought a car which was loaded inside a truck the duties were only for the truck and not on the car. Dealer can therefore afford to sell the car very cheap.

Now am really really confuse, i was thinking of buying a toyota avalon 2002 model by sept. D price is almost d same with a 2003 corolla. Pls advise on which car to really buy because am now having a double mind.

Talking frm experience I would say corolla is a very strong and fuel efficient car compared to a camry. If you are looking for a pretty fast toyota car with a 4cyl engine then the camry comes in handy. What corolla lacks in speed it makes up in rigidity (d faster d car d more fuel it consumes). I love fast cars but I have no reason to get one cus my house is pretty close to my office and my 09 corolla is doing a really good job.
Weeks ago when fuel marketers went on strike and fuel scarcity became intense, I was not affected by it cus my tank was Filled. My neighbour was like "bruv where do u get your fuel cus I noticed that you keep driving and not minding the fuel scarcity" I answered with a bold smile "aside the fact I had a full tank before the fuel scarcity started, I drive a COROLLA".

You don't have to be confused. It depends on what u want from the car. Avalon is one of the best cars out there. Reliability is like no other but its a 6 plug engine and DOES consume more fuel than the Corolla. However, its bigger and more roomy.

If the size of the Corolla is good for you, i suggest you buy it. You cannot go wrong

I told my mechanic last year that I was going to buy a 2003 corolla but the guy advised me against buying the ride. His reasons were that the car is not so strong coupled with the fact that the parts are expensive. Anyway I didn't listen to him as I went ahead and bought it having studied the car very well.
I have used the car for more that a year, going to two and now understands why mechanics will not advise you to buy it. Apart from normal servicing, I have never visited the mechanic for any other fault. The other day I saw my mechanic and he was lamenting that he has not seen me this year, 'abi you wan make hunger kill me' . Who is ever happy visiting a mechanic, doctor or police.
The miles per gallon of the corolla is very much okay and I must say that it is the best car I have ever used.

When Technology changes a little, they dont adopt on time. Toyota changed the engines in that model year to z-series or something like that (cant remember the exact number)

After 2 years of using 05 model, I bought 03 model for my wife,people was saying y will u be using 2 Toyota corrolla.i bought mine 1.550m n sold 1.2m last yr after three yrs usage.insha ALLAH next yr I hope to sell my rx330 n buy 2014 s model.wifey 03 model is 14 months old,she has done service twice(10k plus miles).
That ride gives peace of mind!
