North brought the pains of Boko Haram to north when north adopted use of sharia criminal laws that include stoning adulterous women to death, condemning people to death for blasphemy, cutting off hands of petty thieves.
Boko Haram appeared later and has maintained that it is fighting for a country friendly with use of sharia criminal laws.

North's saving grace is that not many Nigerians are aware of this.
