I Am Planning On Moving To Lagos Nigeria. by Nobody: 8:51am On Jul 14, 2015
I live in the United States and I am planning on moving to Lagos Nigeria in the summer of 2016, and I have been planning for quite sometime now. I am a 17 year old African American & Pacific Islander female. I have little family out there but I will be living independently. I just want to know what to expect such as, how are the living conditions, how safe it is living out there. I also want to attend college out there. Now i have done my reasearch but I would like to get answers specifically from people who live in this particular country as well. Some questions I have are,
-How are the people generally down there?
-Is it expensive to live in Lagos?
-How is the environment?
-Weather conditions?
-What kind of entertainment is there down there?
-Education system?
-Culture?
-Is it hard to get around in Lagos?
-Is it easy to find a job in lagos?
And much more
Specifically for people who live in Lagos for a while.

Why do you want to move to Lagos?
I want to experience something a bit different, and I've always wanted to move somewhere out of the country. Different lifestyle etc.

You should probably check the US embassy website for information.

Why do you prefer lagos instead of abuja?

Why do you want to move? You have family but your posts insinuates you'd be staying alone?
And you are only 17? Its a tough world out there, and you coming from a country where things are relatively stress free is also a factor to consider.

If you have family to look after you, fine..
Check up on the intended college of your choice, do the necessary and move!

All the best!

Op maybe you should come for 3weeks holiday, tour around the city & see things for yourself before relocating finally,
There is highbrow, middlebrow & lowbrow areas depending on where you want.
Its a little bit hard to secure a good job with a juicy pay due to a competitive labour market.
Lagos is full of fun beaches, shopping malls, cinemas, Friday's Night clubbing, weekend's Owanbe etc.
You will have to deal with heavy traffics.
You will also get enough toasters that will wanna shine your congo.
Above all no matter where you stay in Lagos, you will never have a value for your money because Lagos is a expensive slum.

Yes it is safe if you don't expose yourself to danger uneccesarily by being at the right place at the right time.
For the cost of living it varies depending on wich part f lagos u wanna reside. We got the First, middle, Average and slum class of life style here so whatever lifestyle you choose depends on your spending here.
For the the entertainment you're guaranteed the optimum of it. you will get the best here in lagos, on the street, in d malls, events, carnivals, clubs, street jams
If you looking to get job you have to stand out of the crowd in whatever your career is. And if you re an aspiring entrepreneur be ready to put in all your resources cos your effort will pave way for you....fact is 60% of business tycoons in lagos are all migrants from other states so the chance of you making it here is high.

Want us to talk more holla ma mail: arinzejoey@gmail.com

Cheers!!

It's beat advised that you plan very well and to be candid why not try visit on vacation first and have someone to take you around and preferably where you wish to stay rushing to come down here to settle is not a fair deal at al. I live in lagos and I can tell you that it's a mix bag of goodies and chaff down here.

Don't allow anyone to cajole you or sweet talk your head. relate well with you family here and get to know much about the culture too. #mykobo

It's gonna be difficult to survive in Lagos, only if your family are willing to help you settle down.
