“You have to be a fool to think that your skills, strength of character, education and intelligence alone will get you anywhere in Nigeria. Perhaps, for smaller and inconsequential positions, but to succeed Abolurin or ambassadorial posts, you’ll need far more than the content of your resume.”

This statement is rather depressing.
It simply says that meritocracy means nothing in Nigeria.

am surprise u call nscdc 'mere'. This simply shows u know nothing about nscdc. To be a mister of defence, does it mean the person must be Rambo? The man (Ade Abolurin) is higly experienced in term of security issues in the country. Am not saying he should be the next defence minister but don't try to call them 'mere'

he is highly experience in security issue but under his watch as nscdc boss pipeline vandalisation, installition stealing and oil theft reach a new height in this country. can you please explain this and what do you use to judge him to be competent in security?

Seriously, I don't know what they are looking for after retirement. Maybe they like the attention the office will bestow on them so everybody will be doing "ran ka dee dee to them."

i will explain if u can only tell me the number of 'perfect' military personel Nigeria has ever produced in this contry. Its all about idea. Some of us here on NL believe we can do better than my president, then what is the criteria? Take time to study the profile of Ade Abolurin, u will see that he is far better than some retired Generals.its not about muscle but its all about brain.
