dammylohlah:What is causing hunger in Osun? A state that has not witnessed any natural disaster, flood or drought and is not in any way facing civil strife like in the northeast? |

PvtParts2:You're nothing but a straight-up punk, that's why I'm not really keen on engaging you. The SW as it stands contributes the highest non-oil revenue to the federal coffers. Last year alone it exported up to a 1-billion USD in Cocoa exports (http://businessdayonline.com/2014/10/nigeria-to-earn-1-3-billion-from-cocoa-exports-this-year/) -- and the region is fixing to tripple that record this year. That's a shyt-load of value it's adding to the commonwealth than your entire SE region combined. Now, at least that gives us some bragging right, unlike you all. What value are you adding to the non-oil economy? Considering that the Oil coming from the entire SE isn't even up to that contributed by Ondo state alone. See, it's a fruitless exercise engaging y'all. Absolutely fruitless. |

Experts said that the bail out by the FG is a good move in the wrong direction.. You cant continue to give out money free of charge. Is like we survive today and die tomorrow. Foolish government have interest in sharing alone. What a national shame and pity. |

PvtParts2:Well, we already started. I'm sure you realize that the Oil prices may tank further for quite sometime. I think your hypocritical a$$ should start thinking beyond Oil, since you claim to be from Delta state. And for someone making so much noise, your own state owes over N600billion naira in debt. That's like how much in dollars? Inspite of the huge amount of money it receives monthly from the FG. How do you ...explain that? ![]()
|
| Re: Blame Southwest APC States For Naira Fall by AshiwajuFoward: 2:26pm On Jul 18, 2015 |
PvtParts2:According to you, the SW states owe atleast $1.5bn. Yet, according to Okowo the Delta state governor, your state owes atleast $3billion in debt. How do you explain that? In spite of all that Oil money you all get? ![]() |
| Re: Blame Southwest APC States For Naira Fall by Nobody: 2:28pm On Jul 18, 2015 |
AshiwajuFoward:The DMO figure only quoted the amount owed to foriegn creditors but on all pars your states even owe more to banks than any other region. The 600bn figure for Delta represents the total debt portfolio which includes both internal (local banks) and external creditors. If we are to add up the total debt profile of a state like Osun which has been running a deficit budget for 4 yrs in a row with an average of 210bn even though Osun only grosses 40bn annually, you will see that Osun's case is far worse than Delta. So if we consider the total debt profile i.e. that owed to local and external creditors, your region is still far worse off! |

| Re: Blame Southwest APC States For Naira Fall by Nobody: 2:31pm On Jul 18, 2015 |
AshiwajuFoward:We can pay what we owe. May I remind you that we in Delta are still far better than you since we borrowed whatever in lieu of our own resource unlike your governors who rushed to banks to borrow in lieu of our resources. Who then is foolish? Here is your own aregberascal bemoaning his inability to pay his workers due to the lack of banks willing to borrow him more money. www.nairaland.com/attachments/2643047_plot1_jpeg8f69ce80c30e5f99f4bf66663698040b www.nairaland.com/attachments/2643046_loans_jpeg6b38b8744c8ccbfcff622f32ab8797cf |

| Re: Blame Southwest APC States For Naira Fall by Nobody: 2:34pm On Jul 18, 2015 |
AshiwajuFoward:Osun is easily owing over 500 billion and Lagos state has issued more bonds than any state. These are facts that the DMO will not want published especially the local debts to bank to prevent panic of bank failures |

AshiwajuFoward:What was the budget for a state like Osun in the last 3 years compared to it's gross revenue? Answer this simple question. |
| Re: Blame Southwest APC States For Naira Fall by AshiwajuFoward: 2:58pm On Jul 18, 2015 |
PvtParts2:You are crazy for that question. I thought you're the 'smarty pants' that has all the facts and figures? Why don't you pull those figures too out of your a$$ like you've been doing so far. Anuofia! |
| Re: Blame Southwest APC States For Naira Fall by Nobody: 3:04pm On Jul 18, 2015 |
AshiwajuFoward:The figures I posted where external debts that are guaranteed by the FG. This is why the FG can release those figures. The internal debts to financial institutions in Nigeria are not made public as they are private transactions between a private-public entity and the respective state governments. A brief look into the debts approved by the State Assembly can give you a rough estimate of the internal debt profile of states. State governments’ debt profiles “scary” – Minister |
| Re: Blame Southwest APC States For Naira Fall by Nobody: 3:05pm On Jul 18, 2015 |
AshiwajuFoward: Both federal and state governments borrow domestically and externally. However, no state government can borrow externally unless guaranteed by the Federal Government. Similarly, state governments’ domestic borrowing is subject to federal government analysis and confirmation – based on clear criteria and guidelines that a state can repay based on their monthly FAAC allocations and internally generated revenues (IGR). |

| Re: Blame Southwest APC States For Naira Fall by Nobody: 3:15pm On Jul 18, 2015 |
AshiwajuFoward:Your governors are owing local banks as well and have floated so many useless bonds that can never be redeemed. The next great bank crisis will be hinged on your state governors not able to meet their debt servicing. The DMO has since been drafted to reschedule the debt repayment for a longer period and lower interest which will eventually lead to more liquidity crunch for would be investors. The fall out of which will be a higher lending rates. With the dwindling Naira you can also expect that purchasing power will also drop thereby slowing the economy and creating serious deflation. The chances of depositors losing their hard earned savings and crash in shares in these banks can not be rule out. In so many ways we have no one else to blame but your useless governors who have refused to use the bailouts to service their debts to banks and workers but rather chose to pay their cronies in the form of govt contractors. Before the end of the year, occasioned by the naira climbing up to 500 naira, we expect your useless governors to seek another round of bailouts. |

mykl01: Are Osun People now Refugees that we are sending them food aid bikonu? By the way, even after the bailout Oga Gbese still managed to give them half month salary out of 8 months... That man stingy sha! There is God o!!!!This is what happened to Greece after getting a bailout from the EU. The states will still default because their debt ratio is too high compared to their gross revenue. The FG will be asked again to bail them out and more money will be set aside for another round of bailouts which will simply be diverted by the governors to their personal pockets. Our forex will be depleted and the naira will continue in its slide. |
| Re: Blame Southwest APC States For Naira Fall by Nobody: 3:24pm On Jul 18, 2015 |
AshiwajuFoward:For the past 8 mths prior to the FG bailout, Osun state monthly allocations was slightly above 520 million. This was because the banks sought FG assistance in securing their money owed by Osun state. How can you run a state with just 520 million? Nicon Hilton's monthly maintenance and expenditure budget is higher than that figure. www.nairaland.com/attachments/2643046_loans_jpeg6b38b8744c8ccbfcff622f32ab8797cf |
