PLS I AM NEW IN THIS FORUM, BUT I REALLY APPRECIATE ALL YOUR CONTRIBUTIONS SO FAR. I OWN A VOLVO S40 1997 MODEL WITH 2.0 ENGINE BUT OF LATE I JUST NOTICED THAT THE CAR IS CONSUMING FUEL THAN IT IS NECESSARY, CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH POSSIBLE SOLUTION. I HAVE ALSO COMPLAINED TO MY MECHANIC BUT HE TOLD ME THAT THE CAR IS IN GOOD ORDER. WHAT IS THE WAY FORWARD BECAUSE THE FUEL CONSUMPTION IS ALARMING |

Does the car smoke or give any driving issues? Is it Automatic or Manual? What is your current MPG? |

1997 Is an (early) OBDII. It is scannable. Is there A check engine light on. Take it for a scan. Also let someone drive it and watch out for smoking. If there is smoke what colour is it?Also observe the car for any other minor issues. In Short start by scanning. |

As others have said start by scanning. But in your maintenance history, did u change your plugs, did u have a vacuum leakage, have ur mechanic also check ur air flow sensor and air filter, also check for leaking injectors. When you have done a scan drop the codes you find too. 1 Like |
