Idrismusty97:The reason IRONSI opted for federalism was to make the westerner and northerner region to enjoy some of the benefits/dividends and some sense of belonging from the oil in the eastern region because he felt if he didn't opt for it,it will make the rest region to lack behind in terms of development and the east will be far developed than the rest region,he didn't encourage it because he believes in ONE NIGERIA,despite being an easterner he abolished regionalism, didn't you think IRONSI had nigeria in mind?if the fg can run the federalism sincerely, the easterners won't be complaining. |

NDPVF:Good morning bro. Injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere. That's one of my strongest beliefs. I'm naturally averse to cheating and parasitism. We can still salvage this system. Are we just sincere? Will the parasite be considerate with the host? |

EastLebanon:I totally agree with your submission. All these secessionist tendencies will evaporate the moment equity and fairness are enthroned. It's that simple. |

I think it's more than just the system, I think ordinarily Igbo society is very autonomous and independent. I don't see Nigeria changing. |

ezeagu:Nigeria must change or risk the inevitable. It's just a question of time. |

dearpreye:The evidence on ground doesn't support your statement. I've read so many Biafran threads here on nairaland and all of them state what you have just said and also include the " we don't need oil to survive " mantra but when one does a critical analysis of the south east region, the reality on ground says a different story. The south east has been ruled by "Biafrans" for the last 16 years, they also got the added benefit of sharing from Niger Delta oil but as a group, they have nothing to support their claim that as a country they'll do better than Nigeria. The cry of marginalisation won't stop in Biafra because the problem of Nigeria is the mentality of us Nigerians and creating an artificial boundary does nothing to change the mentality. Check nairaland, you'd see a thread where Anglicans were crying marginalisation in Enugu state because neither the PDP governorship candidate and his deputy are Anglicans. Do you think that would stop with the creation of Biafra? As a people, we have placed sectionalism (for lack of a better word) far above competence and that is the major reason why Nigeria is not working. We would rather have someone from our region/state/local government/village/religion/denomination/street in authority than a competent person. |

NDPVF:1. After Ironsi's death, military rule continued and it would be silly for them to change the unitary system which availed them with easy money and gave them a robust administrative structure, democracy was not their forte either. The military government was then followed by the PDP Governments, among which was led by a Niger-Deltan, why did Jonathan not change the system? Why were you not crying? You were enjoying the crumbs from Abuja. 2. So an Igbo man Ironsi did not want Nigeria to disintegrate then because he was in power, Jonathan gave no-go-areas in the National Conference which would have addressed your grievances, because he was in power, now a Daura-born President is in power and suddenly remember Nigeria is not well-structured? You all are just sore losers, which is why your confused agitation came up the moment Jonathan was defeated. What happened to LNC? ![]() |

dearpreye:My brother your post can be summarized by the bolded paragraph of your OP. This is why Nigeria can NEVER work in a million years. The truth is that the scam has become so old that the other side (North and SW) now believe that it is fair and normal, and often attack anyone who questions it. That is the exact reason (don't mind all the noise about corruption) that they could not see the injustice in ganging up and kicking out Jonathan. Even a dying Yar adua was not so ignominiously shoved aside. To them, Jonathan is a usurper to their patrimony. Now they are even angling to probe and even jail him, while the main thieving past presidents who stole billions are walking around free playing "elder statesmen". As for the Igbo, they are simply tired of Nigeria. What they really want to do is leave. It would take an unprecedented miracle to convince the Igbo again that they can trust the destiny of their children to Nigeria. Nigeria has schemed ceaselessly against the Igbo for almost 60 years, our crime being that we don't want the Eastern region to be exploited mindlessly. Our eyes are wide open now. They better be afraid. lol I blame our fathers for being naive and for trusting Nigeria. |

carnegiefan:Thanks for your words. It was my hate for corruption and underdevelopment that pulled me into developing some interest in government and Leadership generally. I campaigned on my FB against the poor handling of our resources by the PDP. I gave my voice against it. I made enemies and friends by being consistently wired against this hydra headed corruption monster. But I saw something that questioned my very hard line against the PDP and president GEJ in particular. I saw through the veil some subtle campaign against leaders from the SS. The media and it's paymasters simply shifted the main fight against corruption SS ward. I saw a plan. A campaign of destroying anyone from here who can have such influence as does PMB or BAT. That was when I started pondering on the much bigger picture, and saw the monumental subtle campaign against us. It got worse with the successful merger of the APC. I saw a careful demonisation of GEJ. And then it became clear I have to support MY OWN. I'm carefully following the Dasuki matter. The outcome may eventually be to further denigrate and intimidate and rubbish former President GEJ. Like you said, the plunderers of this nation who are from the other regions are simply celebrated and regarded as elders; even the one that allegedly fvcked his daughter in law. That's how bad the system has degenerated. As for the Igbos, and any other group that want to chart their own destiny, I'm fully in support. The impudence and arrogance from the parasites is unbecoming. Any serious nation would have done more for the Igbos. Not Nigeria. Not this wicked experiment. Let the Igbos pursue their dreams. It's their right. Their decision. |
