If this news is anything to go by then I think President Buhari is getting it all wrong. Ms. Ogar, the last time I checked, works for the Secret Service and when knowledge of her posting becomes public knowledge then the life of one of our service men has just been put on the balance. This is the height of unprofessionalism.

Let's understand what's going on; the reversal of promotion was for those who didn't attend promotion examination but enjoyed what they called 'special promotion' for serving in the Villa and other special duties. Such other special duties may include doing dirty jobs for the past administration and raiding APC Data Center. Promoting such officers over their colleagues kills an organisation. But I empathize with Mrs. Ogar. I wouldn't sent her to Borno if I were Mr. Daura.

I understand the reversal to be for only those who got them under very questionable circumstances. These newspaper houses though. Except Mr. Daura has decided to make it a total exercise. That being said, the day we decided to make it seem like posting someone to the war front is a form of punishment for crimes committed or perceived to have committed was the day we lost it.

Mr. Daura is taking this agency to a bottomless pit. And his paymaster is doing nothing about it. Clearly, there is no end in sight to the daily bombings and killings in the north.

What if she was the one that asked to be posted there? Has anyone thought of that? The best that this country has is being deployed to Bornu so she is probably in very good company. Besides seeing real action is also one of quickest and most solid way to get promoted.
