Useless country called Nigeria..Employers are just taking advantage of the job situation in Nigeria to maltreat and degrade the youths...why will one go to school come out with good grades and earn rubbish..Employers know that becos of the no job situation youths will take anything even a nickel that's why they just keep insulting pple.

I am sounding like this cause my mum, uncles and aunts told me how things where during there time. According to my mum she worked in 3 different places in 3 months before settling down for a job she finally decided to settle down for, my uncle said you can see a colleague today and tomorrow you won't see d colleague not cause d colleague is sick or anything the colleague has changed job, my aunt said u can get a job with ssce, typing/commercial school cert..infact any certificate or degree u had there was a job waiting for you, another of my aunty said how you know a graduate is with his new pan 504 and his flat, my uncle said then pple where happy to send there kids through school knowing after schooling there kids will get job and in turn train them.

I have an uncle that entered into exxon mobil with ssce certificate while in mobil he went to uni got bsc, msc and phd...when I hear my mum, uncles and aunts I just weep for our generation and Nigeria.

Did it ever occur to you that the reason it's at way is that graduates and educated folks at that time generally were lesser in number compared to present day. When there's a lot more supply than demand, it's only logical that saturation will occur.

I laugh when I read stuffs like this. I came to Nigeria with high hopes with an Msc from a school in UK.

After turning down a couple of job offer cuz of the ridiculous pay, eventually I settled for a 60k per month offer and build myself up from there.

Right now I can say I'm better off than I was yrs back.

Your choice, your life bro do what u think is right.

One young Nigerian share a sad reality of some Nigerians who travel abroad to study and come back home to a salary that can barely keep you going for a week.

He goes further to talked about a friend who graduated with distinction in Masters from a UK University only for him to be offered a N50,000 a month job when he came back to Nigeria.

I expected a honest and decent opinion from people, and all I see is some sham comment like he deserves it. We re our own worst enemy, and unfortunately this is so sad.

Poverty ridden minds, so unfortunate learned scholars are commenting this way, its never their fault, the labour market is saturated which makes labour so cheap in this hell of a country. You found employer earning 1000+ times than the employee, I wonder when we'd recover from this bleeped up system.

He has no experience and it do not matter if you have masters abroad as that do not equal to hands on experience.
But he will have advantage above his mates in the sense that he will quickly catch on with little training and also has resources to read up on if the job is in his field.

A lot of people with similar masters are doing same and are better off now as you need to start somewhere.
Re: Graduate With A Distinction From UK Uni & You Offered With N50k Job In Nigeria by hardbody: 3:11pm On Jul 22, 2015
I kind of feel for the guy. He had his hopes high up there. That N50k is like the deduction they make from my salary to pay my driver. It is crazy. I guess the complainant came back because of the high rate of unemployment in the UK, otherwise i would have suggested he stays back there until he gets something fairly meaningful.

Having said that, most people believe that as soon as you dangle an off-shore certificate, you become the most beautiful bride to an employer. That is not correct. I recall when my company went to poach/headhunt senior executive manpower from UK and US. All but one of them left the system or were fired because they could not perform. The huge recruitment outlay dragged the company back a few hundred million Naira.

Another colleague left me to go and do his masters, he was an executive. When he came back, he was reabsorbed but in the same position. He felt so frustrated and only recently resigned. The new job he got did not place him in any wonderful pedestal. Meanwhile, truth be told, some employers of labour are still particular about foreign acquired degrees so the OP should not loose hope.

It is darkest before dawn.

I have same masters and little experience too and even searched for work in UK and USA without getting after my study. All recruiters were asking me is how many years of experience I have?

Masters - in abroad means you have experience and wanted to master or specialize in a certain area but Naija we take it the wrong way.

OK. When you are done meeting with your family on how things used to be, please walk over to reality, how things really are today.

As an aside, do you think it was easy to by 504 then? Only big boys and graduates could do those then. Besides, employers usually come to the schools to interview graduates about concluding their programmes. Today, there are many graduates waiting to join the queue behind earlier graduates of about 10 years joblessnes experience. Further, the world economy has changed from what it was then to what IT IS NOW. Live with it.

Funny how everybody is studying a course in oil and gas...
wonder when Nigerians will study courses related to Agriculture or put their engineering skills to use and start making machines that will take their country to a better place.
what do you expect when everyone is studying oil and gas/petroleum engineer when the market is already saturated.

I love my Igbo brothers abeg, they always have something to do after school no matter how little.
. Bros. Bsc in oil n gas is not samething as Bsc in petroleum engineering . Moreover having a Bsc in any of them does nt stop u frm doing something different for a living. After all we were all taught theories in engineering schs in nigeria.

Please keep your mouth to yourself and don't u ever mention my family...if ur okay with the situation of things in Nigeria and earning rubbish that isn't commensurate to your effort, time and money you put in school then so be it with U.

If citizens of other countries can graduate get good jobs and actually practice what they read in school then why can't that be applicable in Nigeria.

If you see BAD call it BAD and stop trying to make excuses with economy or whatever...is it only nigeria that went through d economic melt down while leaders of other countries where coming up with policies to cushion the effect our leaders where busy looting.

Our leaders have ruined this country and subject youths to go through what even there parents didn't go through.

You are the stewpidest in planet earth. When you brought your family into discussion what was your numb skull thinking? You introduced your family to a discussion and you dont want them mentioned? Arrant bufoonery.

Now listen up. I sympathise with fellow Nigerians who are receiving the short end of the stick. That does not mean i am complaining as an individual. My pay package more than compensates for all my struggles in having acquired a first degree and 2 masters degrees together with other professional qualifications. It is not by my might, i give God the Glory and still remain modest and humble.

Reality is what i told u which you are frothing in the mouth about. If you do not mend your ways, opportunities will still pass you by, imbec.ile.
