Wale was a guest at the White House yesterday for a “beating the odds” summit which aims to encourage kids to sign up for college.

While most will applaud Wale serving as a positive role model for American youth, a lot of Americans chose to criticize Wale’s choice of dressing rather, which was a custom made Igbo attire popularly known as Etibo made by Zini Couture, who also makes attires for Olamide and the YBNL crew.

He was criticized for not looking ‘professional’ enough.

Unfortunately for the (probably bigoted) critics, Wale actually changed into that attire for his performance. While giving a talk during the lecture part of the summit, he was dressed conventionally in dress shirt and slacks.

Not like there was anything wrong in the Etibo anyway.

Wale’s response to the criticism was,

Presentable? I performed in a Nigerian native top & hard bottoms. @Zinicouture is presentable. Suit to perform? No.

Haters can go do the needful

Americans are not hating on what Wale wore. People, generally, don't hate on those they find beneath them. Wale's attire was seen as unprofessional. Most people in America, if they had the opportunity to meet Mr. Barack Obama, would wear a suit, business/business casual attire.

Wale is an American citizen and Americans have a right to criticize just as much as you also have a right too.
They should also criticise everytime police use his like for target practise, instead of performing mental gymnastic in order to justify/explain the shootings.

it's baffling why some Igbo's are hell bent on erasing the culture of the diverse ethnicities in the Niger Delta, it will not work.

Please, what the fuck is the "Niger Delta"? Is Imo and Abia not classed as 'Niger Delta' states? If you're referring to a specific ethnic group, not nonsense terminology, then be clear about it, otherwise you just look like an agitating agitator.

You people just talk absolute rubbish. Are you not the one erasing ethnic identity with this Niger Delta nonsense, a mere geographic term? if you're trying to say the attire is from a specific group just come out and say it and stop hiding behind "Niger Delta" like you have no identity.
